Insurance no issue for Deng if he decides to play overseas

Bucks center Andrew Bogut looked hard into playing in Australia and couldn’t get a deal done because he was unable to find insurance for his NBA contract. That’s not going to be a problem for Luol Deng if he finally decides to go to Europe, according to agent Herb Rudoy of Interperformances.

“We have the insurance if we want it,” Rudoy said. “We have a committment from a large insurance company. That’s not a problem.”

Interperformances released a statement on its website yesterday saying both Deng and Raja Bell were considering going abroad to play. The Bulls forward had already spoken about this option during the summer.

“He’s very serious about playing overseas,” Rudoy said. “We’ve been talking about it since the European Championships. We heard from a number of teams wondering if he would do it. He’s really asked us now to take a look at what the market would be for him. My partner Luciano Capicchioni is working hard to see what interest there is out there.

“We’re not in negotiations with anybody at this point, just sorting out the market.”

Deng, who will make almost $40 million in the three final years of his contract with Chicago, averaged 17.4 ppg and 5.8 rpg last season.
