Here are this week’s smart plays and bad plays, followed by their DraftStreet salary and statistics from their last five games:

SMART BUYS

Ryan Anderson - $13,158 – 22.6 points, 6.6 rebounds, .500 FG%, .447 3P% - Anderson is playing well for the New Orleans Hornets. Even though he hasn’t had Dwight Howard to draw defenders away, as he did last season with the Orlando Magic, Anderson has still thrived and remained one of the league’s best shooters. He’s leading the Hornets in scoring and continues to rebound the ball well. Over the last five games, he has been one of the most productive big men in the league and he’s a bargain at $13,158.

O.J. Mayo - $14,668 – 24 points, 5.8 rebounds, 4.6 assists, 1.2 steals, .514 FG%, .581 3P% - Mayo has been one of the NBA’s pleasant surprises this season. With Dirk Nowitzki sidelined, he has emerged as the Dallas Mavericks’ most important player. Lately, he’s been filling the stat sheet while continuing to score the ball at will. Last week, he had a 40-point performance against the Houston Rockets. He’s shooting the ball extremely well and getting plenty of touches so expect similar stats this week.

Paul George - $14,448 – 19.0 points, 7.2 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 1.4 steals, .455 FG%, .429 3P% - George has finally emerged as the number one option on the Indiana Pacers. It took some time, and an injury to Danny Granger, but he has stepped up and performed at a high level in recent weeks. He’s getting plenty of touches on the Pacers and he’s had a 34-point and 37-point game in the last two and a half weeks. George is finding a rhythm and he’s worth spending $14,448 on.

BAD BUYS

Steve Nash - $13,807 – 4.5 points, 4.0 assists, 3.0 rebounds, .333 FG% - Nash has only played in two games this season and he recently told USA Today Sports that he’ll likely be sidelined for at least two more weeks. Once he returns to the court, he needs to get in shape and develop chemistry with his new teammates. Nash is a big-name player, but don’t waste $13,807 on someone who is still a few weeks away from returning and making an impact for the Los Angeles Lakers.

Andray Blatche - $14,055 – 17.2 points, 9.8 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 2.0 steals, .525 FG% - Blatche has been playing very well over the last five games, filling in for the injured Brook Lopez, but it remains to be seen how he’ll play when Lopez returns. Even though Blatche has been in the conversation for Most Improved Player, $14,055 is a lot to spend on someone whose production may level off this week.

Greg Smith - $13,173 – 8.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, 1.0 blocks, 14.4 minutes – Smith had a huge game against the Los Angeles Lakers (21 points, 9 rebounds and 2 blocks), but he has been very average in the last three games. He has played 14 minutes, 2 minutes and 16 minutes, contributing 2 points, 2 points and 4 points. Spending $13,173 on Smith is very risky since his production and minutes have been on the decline.
