Mike Miller: "Gasol is our go-to guy"
What are your expectations for the team this season?
Mike Miller: I just to win games and hopefully finish in a high position -- the highest possible.
How big of a possibility do you think is for the Memphis Grizzlies to play the postseason?
MM: There is a big possibility. We just have to be focused and go game by game. I think this is definitely a good team.
Individually, what are your goals?
MM: Just to win games and make my teammates better. Just being part of a winning team.
Many people think you have All-Star potential. Is that -- playing the All-Star -- something you think about?
MM: Well, I don't know. I just have to play as hard as I possibly can. If I do that, I don't have to worry about any other thing happening.
You've had injury problems in the past, mainly back problems. How do you feel now?
MM: It feels great. Hopefully, and God willing, I'll stay injury-free for the rest of the season and the rest of my career. All the other things that happened in the past, hopefully will stay in the past.
Do you feel any extra pressure after signing that six-year contract?
MM: No, my bottom-line is just to go out and play. If anything, I feel more relieved and excited to be a part of this team. Hopefully we'll win games this year.
MM: I think Pau Gasol is definitely our go-to guy. Maybe Jason sometimes. We have a team with many offensive options, that can score and that's what we are looking forward to.
Do you still miss Orlando?
MM: You know, I miss that a little bit. But I like my situation better here, so I'm excited to be here.
You and Tracy McGrady were pretty good friends in Orlando. Do you stay in touch?
MM: Yes, we stay in touch. Yes. All the time!
What do you talk about?
MM: (Laughs) A little bit of everything. (Laughs) Everything in general.
Do you see Orlando as a contender in the Eastern Conference this season?
MM: Yeah, I think they look good. They have a very good team. Every time you play a team that has T-Mac on its side and if the other guys step up, you know there is a good chance they are going to win. And I think everybody understands that.
