Stromile Swift: "I try not to put all the pressure on myself"
How was the offseason for you this year?
Stromile Swift: Normal offseason. Just working, working out on my game. And at the end of the summer, I tried to prepare myself for for the season.
Any thing in particular about game that you tried to work on more than others?
SS: I just tried to work on my jump shot and try to hit it consistently so when I'm open, I hope I can knock it down.
I know you spent a great deal of the summer trying to workout a long-term deal with the Grizzlies. How was that that process?
SS: I try not to think about it too much, when my time come around, and I'll be able to sign a long-term deal with whoever. If it's not the Grizzlies, it's another team. But I signed a one-year deal, so I'm here now. Still a Grizzly.
SS: (cutting in) I was disappointed, but I know this is a business and they going to do what's best for the team. If I was in the exact same situation, I probably would have done the same thing. It's pretty much up to us to put pressure on the people upstairs to sign you. So I've got to do a better job of doing that.
Hubie Brown says this is a very important season for you in particular. Would you agree?
SS: Well, I try not to put all the pressure on myself because it's an important season for everybody. So I've gotta go out there and work harder and try to play.
Do you have anything to prove this season?
SS: Nah, I'm just going out there and play my game and hope that it turns out good.
So are there any hard feelings toward the organization?
SS: You think about it a little bit, but you still have to go out there and play.
What are your chances of being here next year?
SS: I don't know. That's in the future. We'll see at the end of the year.
