Re: Sergio Llull whose NBA rights are held by the Houston Rockets – Here is what I’m told. Would Lull, a starting guard for one of the best teams overseas, take a back seat to play in the NBA? Maybe, but probably not. Would he risk 25+ minutes per game in Europe to become a backup to James Harden or whatever PG the Rockets land next season? No, probably not. Are Rudy Fernandez and Sergio Rodriguez – both former NBAers – in Llull’s ear that the NBA is a waste of time? Yea, for sure. Are the Rockets seriously considering bringing over BOTH Llull and Italian scorer Alessandro Gentile while Kostas Papanikolaou isn’t even playing in the playoffs (and 3 minutes in 5 games isn’t really playing)? No, probably not.
Olimpia Milano captain Alessandro Gentile said he will decide his future after the season. The Houston Rockets want to bring him to the NBA from next season. Gentile was selected by the Rockets in the second round of the 2014 NBA Draft. “I will decide after the Serie A playoffs whether to go to the NBA from next season or not. It looks like everyone has decided for me. But I am the only one to decide. I am very pleased that the Rockets are so interested in me. They treat me like a player that will go playing with them.
Emiliano Carchia: Alessandro Gentile: It’s too early to talk about the future. I’m a player of Olimpia Milano and I am giving everything for this team. Alessandro Gentile scored 29 points with 7 boards and 4 assists for 30 of evaluation in Milano’s victory 99-85 vs. Baskonia
Alessandro Gentile’s father, Nando, told Fox Sports that Alessandro Gentile loves Milano and will decide his future after the season. “Everyone is saying Alessandro will go to the NBA after this season but Alessandro and his family still don’t know. We have two more years with Milano and we extended the contract last summer. We have a great relationship with Olimpia Milano, the city of Milan, the president. He wants to remain here. Houston is following him closely. We’ll see what happens when the season ends and then we’ll decide” said Nando Gentile. “Playing in the NBA is the goal of any player. But Alessandro always said he would love to remain here” added Gentile.
Alessandro Gentile’s three-year contract with Olimpia Milano doesn’t include an NBA out in 2015 and there’s no buyout clause in his deal, source tells HoopsHype. A 53rd pick in the 2014 draft, Gentile is averaging 13.2 ppg, 2.7 rpg and 2.5 apg in the Euroleague this season.
“The fifth Italian in the NBA is going to be Alessandro Gentile. He will move to the Rockets this summer” said Hackett. Alessandro Gentile signed a contract extension with EA7 last summer and he was supposed to remain in Europe for two more years before moving overseas. But his plans seem different now and he is ready to join the Rockets in 2015.
Alessandro Gentile talked with La Gazzetta dello Sport also about his future. Gentile has a contract beyond this season with Olimpia Milano with whom he has won the Serie A Championship last June as captain. Alessandro Gentile was selected by the Houston Rockets in the second round of the 2014 NBA Draft and he did not rule out jumping overseas very soon. “The Rockets make me feel like one of their family even if I never went to Houston yet. They came to Europe very often to watch me and the contacts are frequent. The NBA is a challenge that fascinates me more and more and could come vert soon. But now I am just focused on winning a back-to-back title with Olimpia Milano. But the final results of this season won’t affect my future decisions” said Gentile.
Emiliano Carchia: Alessandro Gentile to La Gazzetta dello Sport: The NBA is a challenge that fascinates me more and more and that could come very soon. Now I am just focused on winning a second championship with Olimpia Milano but our results won’t affect my future decisions
FIBA Europe announced Player of the Year candidates. There are 10 players candidates for the award: Alessandro Gentile, Bogdan Bogdanovic, Boris Diaw, Dirk Nowitzki, Goran Dragic, Jonas Valanciunas, Milos Teodosic, Pau Gasol, Sergio Rodriguez, Tony Parker.
Alessandro Gentile spoke with Leggo about his future and the NBA. The captain of the “Men in Red” was selected by the Rockets in the second round of the 2014 NBA Draft. “NBA? I am not interested right now. I am happy in Milano. Maybe in the future I’ll go to the NBA. Maybe yes, maybe no” said Gentile. “I am just focused on improving my game” added Gentile.
Not present at Monday’s press conference was Houston’s third selection last week, Allesandro Gentile, who just wrapped up a season in which he earned Finals MVP honors after leading his club to the Italian League championship. Morey said it’s still to soon to say whether or not Gentile will be able to join the Rockets in time for the 2014-15 season. “He’s somebody who’s already so highly regarded in Europe and more ready to play. He’s somebody we’re in discussions about when and if he might come over. He’s somebody with a lot of pedigree even though he’s only 21 having won the championship just now and being the best player in the Italian League so that’s something that we have to continue to talk with his agent and with him about and see what the best plan is.”
Emiliano Carchia: Alessandro Gentile: I am proud of having being selected by the Rockets in the draft. I think my next future will be in Milano
Olimpia Milano captain Alessandro Gentile will meet on Sunday with Cavaliers and Hawks officials who are in Milan for the Euroleague Final Four. The Italian rising start will be in the next NBA draft and could be selected late in the second round. Gentile averaged 11.4 points per game in Euroleague with 2.4 rebounds and 2.3 assists and is scoring 11 points per game in Serie A.
The Denver Nuggets are eyeing Alessandro Gentile and they will scout him at the next Italian Cup Final Eight in Milano, scheduled for February 7-9. Alessandro Gentile is the captain of Olimpia Milano and will be at next NBA draft (Draftexpress projected him as 49th pick in its last mock draft).

RealGM: If you would have a chance to choose – NBA or Europe? Alessandro Gentile: The main thing is if I would go to the NBA, I would want to be one of the main guys and if I would be able just to sit on the bench, I would prefer to play in Europe. There is no doubt – Euroleague is still a high level competition.
