In April of 2014, Walker was projected as the No. 10 pick in the 2015 NBA Draft by DraftExpress.com. Now he’s listed as the No. 20 sophomore and is not in any of the site’s mock drafts. “He’s a long way from being a productive NBA player,” one NBA scout told SNY.tv. “Possible second-rounder who will spend time in the D-League next year if he puts his name in the draft.”
Chris Walker, once a heralded prospect and potential one-and-done player, is leaving Florida, sources confirmed to SNY.tv. It remains unclear if he will try to transfer or play professionally somewhere. “I’m definitely hearing that he’s leaving,” one source said, adding he had heard the news earlier this week. “He needs to transfer. I don’t think he might get drafted at this point.”
The queen will have her palace. So says the prince, who in this fairy tale is Holmes County’s Chris Walker, a 6-foot-9 forward who has verbally committed to Billy Donovan’s team at the University of Florida. Walker is recognized as one of the premier recruits in the country, rated seventh nationally by ESPN.com and sixth by Rivals.com. His athleticism is otherworldly compared to most 17-year-olds, and he fully expects to hear NBA commissioner David Stern call his name as a lottery selection in the league’s 2014 draft. “NBA draft people have said I’m like a sick mix of Kevin Garnett and Perry Jones III,” Walker said.
