Eddy Curry and Allen Iverson are in the Philippines with the BallUp Streetballers. Curry, who turns 32 in a month, has been out of the NBA since 2012, but it’s good to see he’s keeping with it. (Curry won a title in Miami in 2012 despite not playing in the playoffs. [@ompongski]
His teammate Eddy Curry said he slept just two hours one night. He was the only player assigned to the supposedly spooky 10th floor, and he spent most of his time in Nate Robinson’s room, afraid to be alone. “I definitely believe there are ghosts in that hotel,” Curry told The Daily News, which illustrated its article with a photograph not of the Skirvin but of the Bates Motel.

The seven-bedroom Burr Ridge mansion that former Chicago Bulls center Eddy Curry lost to foreclosure in March 2012 has been listed for $3.999 million. A Bull from 2001 until 2005, Curry, 30, now plays basketball in China. He last played in the NBA in late 2012. In 2006, Curry paid $6.2 million for the newly built mansion.
As was the case with Eddy Curry two seasons ago, Heat coach Erik Spoelstra doesn’t have either guy penciled in for any particular role. “No expectations,” Spoelstra said of both guys. For Oden, the next several months are about getting healthy and in basketball shape. “He’s inspired by the opportunity to help us,” Spoelstra said. “But more than anything, we just want to see him get back out there, have a smile on his face, and be able to do what he loves. He’s had some setbacks, but that does not define his whole career. This, we feel, is a perfect fit for him.
Alex Kennedy: Several NBA teams have inquired about FA Eddy Curry. In China, Curry averaged 23 points and 10.1 boards in 29.6 minutes for a playoff team.
The victims, Nova Henry, 24, and her 10-month-old daughter, Ava, were found shot to death inside their South Loop town house in January 2009. Henry’s 3-year-old son Noah, who also was Curry’s child, was found in the town house unharmed. “We’re very pleased with the verdict,” said Lisa Newman, Nova Henry’s godmother. “We never doubted for a minute that it would be anything other than guilty.”
A Chicago attorney was found guilty Tuesday night of fatally shooting a former girlfriend of ex-Chicago Bulls player Eddy Curry and their infant daughter. Frederick Goings, 40, was convicted of two counts of first-degree murder by a Cook County jury that deliberated a little more than four hours.
In a move that was officially announced yesterday, Curry has signed on with the Zhejiang Chouzhou Golden Bulls. Curry has already landed in Yiwu, Zhejiang province and met up with his new team today. Though Chinese media have reported that there is a possibility, It is unclear whether he will suit up for tomorrow night’s home game against Fujian SBS. Curry will replace Josh Boone, who spent the last two seasons with the team. In four games, Boone averaged 14.8 points and 13.5 rebounds.
Eddy Curry has signed with the Zhejiang Golden Bulls of the Chinese Basketball Association, according to sources close to the situation. Curry’s flight to China left this evening and he will play with Zhejiang for the remainder of the CBA season. When he returns from China, he’ll be a playoff-eligible and will try to sign with an NBA team.
Big man Eddy Curry, waived by San Antonio and Dallas already this season, was pursued hard by Foshan of the Chinese Basketball Association to team with former Minnesota and Sacramento swingman Rashad McCants. But Curry declined as he hoped to land another NBA job, prompting Foshan to sign Shavlik Randolph.
Curry’s preference is remain in the NBA, but he’s also considering a number of overseas teams, including one lucrative offer from a team in China.
Free agent center Eddy Curry has received interest from several NBA teams, according to sources close to the situation. Five teams have been in contact with Curry and expressed some level of interest in his services. Curry last played with the Dallas Mavericks, averaging 4.5 points and 2.0 rebounds in two games earlier this season. He was released by the Mavericks two weeks ago so that the team could open a roster spot to sign Troy Murphy.
The Mavs originally claimed Curry off waivers on Oct. 25. Brand noted that he’ll miss all that precious space Curry’s overly wide body took up in the paint. “I’ll miss that presence,” said Brand of the player who averaged 4.5 points and two rebounds in 12.5 minutes per game for the Mavs. “He had a big presence down there. “I hope Eddy Curry gets picked up by a team because in the minutes he did play he played OK for us..”
Alex Kennedy: The Mavericks will waive Eddy Curry. Just as I said when the Spurs released Curry last week, don’t be surprised if another team signs him.
With Chris Kaman soon to return from a calf injury, sources said, Dallas decided that it needed more of a stretch power forward like Murphy as cover for Dirk Nowitzki than another back-to-the-basket player. Curry, whom the Mavs claimed off waivers the day before the preseason finale, had nine points and four rebounds during the Dallas’ 1-1 season-opening road trip. He played a significant role in the Mavs’ win over the Lakers, scoring seven points and grabbing four rebounds in 17 minutes. The Mavs have agreed to a one-year deal with Murphy, pending him passing a physical.
The Mavericks are at the NBA roster limit of 15, so a player must be waived or traded to open a roster spot for Murphy. With center Chris Kaman tentatively scheduled to return from a calf injury _ and Dirk Nowitzki out at least a few more weeks from arthroscopic knee surgery _ the Mavs’ greater need is at power forward. That would appear to make recently added center Eddy Curry the odd Maverick out. The Mavericks have shopped third-year guard Dominique Jones, but haven’t found a taker.
The reason Curry would be released, according to the source, is because center Chris Kaman is expected to back ready to play in Saturday’s home opener against the Charlotte Bobcats. It’s also because power forward Dirk Nowitzki is still about a month away from returning to the court, and Murphy spends as much time on the perimeter as Nowitzki. In other words, the Mavs have a much stronger need right now for a power forward who can stretch the court (Murphy) than a center of Curry’s ilk. Murphy, however, still has to pass his physical with the Mavs.
With the Dallas Mavericks close to signing power forward Troy Murphy to a one-year deal, center Eddy Curry will be released, according to a source.
Curry’s line Tuesday wasn’t beastly — seven points, four rebounds and four personal fouls in 17 minutes — but he bothered Gasol all night on both ends. Once a ghastly 300 pounds-plus, a slimmed-down Curry bumped Gasol on both ends of the floor. While he was out there, Curry was the most physical player for an undermanned team that had to resort to guerrilla warfare to beat the Lakers 99-91 in Los Angeles. “I asked [Gasol], ‘You got something personal against me or something?'” Curry said. “‘You trying to body me?’ But it was fun.”
The Mavs need to trim their roster from 16 to 15 players by the leaguewide deadline of 4 p.m. Finding a taker for Jones would buy them more time to resolve the future of the suspended West, but sources told ESPN.com that – with no takers emerging for Jones – parting with West remains the most probable move to create a spot for Eddy Curry.
