Eric Boateng RumorsAll NBA Players
The Los Angeles Lakers have signed center Eric Boateng and guard Darius Johnson-Odom. Boateng, a free agent center out of Arizona State University, has split time over the last three seasons playing for the Idaho Stampede and the Austin Toros of the NBA’s Development League in addition to playing internationally for the Greek Basket League team Peristeri and the New Yorker Phantoms Braunschweig in Germany.
Shams Charania: Heard that former ASU standout Eric Boateng received a training camp invite from the #Nuggets, but he passed it up to sign in Germany.
Alex Kennedy: Lakers free agent camp: Gerald Green, Bobby Simmons, Eric Boateng, Cedric Simmons, D.J. Strawberry, J.R. Giddens, Bobby Brown and Leo Lyons.
The Lakers will bring in Bobby Brown, Bobby Simmons, Kevin Palmer, Jamelle Horne, Leo Lyons, Eric Boateng and J.R. Giddens for a look at a good cross-section of NBA veterans with a couple of hard-playing rookies thrown in for good measure. More players are expected, including a few longtime NBA veterans if my sources are correct, and should be confirmed tomorrow.
Sources tell CBSSports.com’s Ben Golliver that the Blazers will work out Earl Barron, Dwayne Jones, Sean Marks and Shavlik Randolph. Ken Berger of CBSSports.com also confirms these names. The Blazers could also work out other players as well. The Portland Tribune reports Eric Boateng also will get a look.
Eric Boateng is not the only center on the radar of Aris Thessaloniki recently released by an NBA team. The Greek team is also reportedly interested in Dwayne Jones, waived by the Phoenix Suns. The 27-year-old American center has played during his entire career in the United States, except a couple of brief and unsuccessful stints in Efes Pilsen and Red Star.
