The Phoenix Suns today announced they have waived guard Joe Jackson, guard Casey Prather and forward Jamil Wilson. The three rookies initially signed with the Suns on Sept. 26. Jackson recorded two points in seven minutes in one appearance this preseason, while Prather played five minutes in one appearance and Wilson totaled nine minutes in two appearances. The Suns’ roster now stands at 16 players.
The Phoenix Suns signed center Earl Barron and rookies Joe Jackson, Casey Prather and Jamil Wilson on Friday, giving them 18 players on the roster. The 33-year-old Barron played 12 games for the Suns in 2010-11 and last appeared in the NBA with New York in 2012-13. He has averaged 4.9 points and 3.7 rebounds in 124 games in seven seasons with Miami, New York, Phoenix, Milwaukee, Portland, Golden State and Washington.

Rodney Hood will headline a pre-draft workout hosted by the Sacramento Kings on Saturday. The Kings announced that the Duke forward will participate in a six-man workout that includes Kyle Casey (Harvard), Jarell Eddie (Virginia Tech), C.J. Fair (Syracuse), Joe Jackson (Memphis) and Xavier Thames (San Diego State).
In this group was another six players, evenly split between the positions…two point guards, two wings, and two bigs. The most notable prospects in attendence were Shabazz Napier (PG, UCONN), Jerami Grant (SF/PF, Syracuse), and Glenn Robinson III (SF, Michigan). Other attendees included Cameron Bairstow (PF/C, New Mexico), Joe Jackson (PG, Memphis), and Ronald Roberts Jr. (PF, Saint Josephs).
The Grizzlies announced via a press release that they will hold their first pre-draft workouts on Friday, May 30th. The players scheduled to participate are Clint Capela, Josh Huestis, Joe Jackson, Eric Moreland, Adin Vrabac, and Scottie Wilbekin. The Grizzlies hold the 22nd overall pick in June’s draft.
Joe Jackson’s agent says it would be a good fit, and not just because Jackson is a hometown favorite. The former University of Memphis guard will work out for the Grizzlies at FedExForum on Friday. It’s the second of four pre-draft workouts with NBA teams over the next six days for Jackson. “I know Memphis is saying they have a lot of interest in him. They’ve been saying from Day 1 that they were going to bring him in,” Jackson’s agent, Charles Briscoe, said. “I know he could be a good change-of-pace guard behind (Mike) Conley. They need a backup point guard.”
