Former Michigan State University basketball star Keith Appling was arraigned in a Detroit courtroom on four new felony charges Tuesday after another arrest — his third since May. The new charges Appling faces are carrying a concealed weapon, resisting and obstructing police, third-degree fleeing and eluding and felony firearm.
Authorities say former Michigan State basketball player Keith Appling has been arrested again on a charge of carrying a concealed weapon. Detroit police Sgt. Michael Woody said Appling was arrested early Saturday after officers stopped a fast-driving Dodge Charger. Woody says officers saw Appling, a passenger, place a weapon under a seat.
Keith Appling, a point guard for the Orlando Magic’s NBA Development League affiliate, is scheduled to be arraigned this afternoon in Dearborn, Mich., after the Wayne County prosecutor charged him with carrying a concealed weapon, a felony; possession of a loaded firearm in a vehicle, a misdemeanor; and possession of marijuana, a misdemeanor.

The Orlando Magic have decided to keep rookie point guard Keith Appling around at least a little bit longer. The Magic will sign Appling to a second 10-day contract on Friday, a source with knowledge of the situation told the Orlando Sentinel. By waiting until Friday, Appling will remain on the roster through Feb. 7, when the Magic will host the Atlanta Hawks, and would be able to play that day if needed.
