The Miami Heat have begun stocking their NBA Development affiliate, with Heat camp cuts Jarvis Varnado, Justin Hamilton and Larry Drew II among those invited Thursday to the Sioux Falls Skyforce’s training camp. Also on the Skyforce camp roster are Anthony Mason Jr. and former NBA forward Bill Walker. Also invited to camp was Jeffrey Remmington, a former Florida Atlantic guard who advanced out of an open tryout staged last month by the Heat.

Miami has recently expressed interest in a number of free agents including Von Wafer, Julyan Stone, Vander Blue, Yakhouba Diawara, Larry Drew II, Je’Kel Foster and Justin Holiday among others, according to sources close to the situation. All of these players recently worked out for the HEAT. Miami may bring in several other free agents for additional workouts in the coming days.
The Sun Sentinel confirmed Monday through league sources that among those who will work out in coming days for the Heat are free-agent guard Julyan Stone, who played last season for the Denver Nuggets; Vander Blue, a guard out of Marquette who went undrafted this past June; swingman Yakhouba Diawara, a journeyman forward out of France who spent the 2008-09 and 2009-10 seasons with the Heat; and point guard Larry Drew II, who went undrafted out of UCLA and was sidelined by injury after being scheduled to play for the Heat in summer league.
There was some website chatter that Bucks forward John Henson and Larry Drew II, the son of Bucks coach Larry Drew, didn’t exactly see eye to eye after Drew bolted North Carolina for UCLA. Henson denied there’s ever been any rift between them. “Coach Drew’s son is a great dude,” Henson said. “Larry is a good player; he’s working out for the draft now. I try to keep up with him because he played with us (at North Carolina). “It (the transfer to UCLA) was best for him and his family. That’s how it is. He obviously played great last season at UCLA, so he made the right decision. I hope the best for him. He’s a friend of mine.”
Additionally, ASM has signed Ohio State forward Deshaun Thomas, Florida forward Erik Murphy, Temple guard Khalif Wyatt, Louisville guard Peyton Siva, Miami guard Durand Scott, UCLA guard Larry Drew II, Minnesota forward Trevor Mbakwe, and Kansas guards Elijah Johnson and Travis Releford. Miller, Stephen Pina, Andrew Vye, Justin Zanik, Steve Banks and J.R. Hensley will represent the players.
