Mychel Thompson RumorsAll NBA Players
The Knicks sliced their roster to their final 15 yesterday, cutting a player who started their first preseason game and keeping a player who was forgotten about until the second half of the second game. The team waived four players — forward Mychel Thompson, guard Oscar Bellfield, forward John Shurna and center Henry Sims. The Knicks kept forward Chris Copeland, who averaged 15.5 points in the preseason.
New York Knickerbockers Executive Vice President and General Manager Glen Grunwald announced today that the team has waived guard Oscar Bellfield, forwards John Shurna and Mychel Thompson and center Henry Sims.
The Knicks made no cuts yesterday but forward Chris Copeland, who averaged 15.5 points in the preseason, has all but sealed the 15th spot. If Wallace doesn’t break down during upcoming scrimmages and shooting guard James White’s foot injury isn’t serious, which it appears, Mychel Thompson likely will fall short despite a big night at the Coliseum (13 points in 19:54, 3 of 7 on 3-pointers).
Woodson said he was to make cuts today and Mychel Thompson was expected to be one of them. But Thompson made one last stab as he came off the bench in White’s absence to pump in 13 points, making 3 of 7 3-pointers in his best outing. Nevertheless, Chris Copeland appears to have sewn up the 15th spot, unless White’s injury is serious.
