Trevor Mbakwe RumorsAll NBA Players
Trevor Mbakwe was announced by Brose Baskets Bamberg today. The American big man with passport from Nigeria has NBA and Euroleague outs this summer in his contract with the German powerhouse, according to sources. Mbakwe will play for the the Lakers in the Vegas Summer League.
Hollins called Mbakwe for advice on how to prepare for Europe because that looks to be his destination as well. “His goal, like mine, is to make the NBA,” Mbakwe said. “But he’s open-minded to the possibility of playing in Europe. I think that’s very key. You have to have the right mind-set to play in Europe.” Mbakwe did, and now … “If I have a good showing, I think I have a good chance of getting invited to an NBA training camp or sign a contract for next year,” he said. “I was hearing from some other teams, but I thought the Lakers seemed like the best fit because of the roster space. They don’t have many big guys like me.”
Virtus Roma agreed to terms with Trevor Mbakwe. The big man out of Minnesota ended his college career averaging 10ppg and 8rpg.
Trevor Mbakwe is unlikely to join Cimberio Varese, as reported by La Prealpina. The rookie big man was close to penning a deal with the Italian team but in the last hours the situation changed and Alba Berlin seems to be the front runner to sign him.
After the signature of Aubrey Coleman, Cimberio Varese is ready to make the decisive thrust for Trevor Mbakwe. The former Golden Gopher wants to try to sign a contract in NBA, but the high rookie age (24 years old) and not exciting numbers could change his mind and let him decide to accept the proposal of the Italian team.
Jason Jones: Trevor Mbakwe won’t be on the Kings summer league roster. He’ll be replaced by Ashley Hamilton (F, 6-7, 220 Loyola Marymount)
Trevor Mbakwe and Rodney Williams both had the opportunity to be the first Gophers player taken in the NBA draft since 2004. But after 60 selections in the June 27 draft, all 30 NBA teams passed on the two forwards.
Darren Wolfson: Sounds like the Sixers are one option for Mbakwe. He’d be w/ Rodney Williams again (he committed to Philly summer team this a.m.). #gophers
With just two days remaining before the 2013 NBA Draft, the Clippers are conducting their final group workout Tuesday morning at the team’s training facility. Potential first-round pick Tony Mitchell of North Texas is the top rated prospect attending. He averaged 9.3 rebounds in 55 college games and entered the NBA as a sophomore after becoming one of the best high school players in the nation in 2010. Trevor Mbakwe (Minnesota) and Elias Harris (Gonzaga), two more athletic rebounders, will join Mitchell along with guards Ian Clark (Belmont) and Peyton Siva, who led Louisville to the 2013 NCAA title.
The Indiana Pacers will hold their fourth workouts open to the media with prospects for the 2013 NBA Draft on Tuesday, June 18 at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Prospects will work out in front of team officials and conduct interviews with the media beginning at 2:30 PM. Players scheduled to workout for the Pacers on Tuesday are Kenny Kadji (Miami, Florida); Trevor Mbakwe (Minnesota); Romero Osby (Oklahoma); Christian Watford (Indiana)) The list of players is subject to change.
Chris Haynes: Minnesota PF Trevor Mbakwe will be one of the prospects to work out for #Blazers on Friday. He’s projected to go mid/late second round.
Roseville center Mike Muscala (Bucknell) turned down the chance to participate in a group workout at Target Center next week. However, he’ll be working out for the Wolves in June. Mbakwe, after stellar performances at the Combine and in New Jersey, has also declined to take part in the Minnesota workout.
Darren Wolfson: From Flip: mentions Mbakwe and Hardaway Jr. as two guys who really helped themselves at the Combine. Only two he cited. #twolves
Additionally, ASM has signed Ohio State forward Deshaun Thomas, Florida forward Erik Murphy, Temple guard Khalif Wyatt, Louisville guard Peyton Siva, Miami guard Durand Scott, UCLA guard Larry Drew II, Minnesota forward Trevor Mbakwe, and Kansas guards Elijah Johnson and Travis Releford. Miller, Stephen Pina, Andrew Vye, Justin Zanik, Steve Banks and J.R. Hensley will represent the players.
Look for the Wolves to invite former Gophers Trevor Mbakwe and Rodney Williams for personal workouts after the lottery. Mbakwe, but not Williams, is among 63 players expected to participate in the NBA predraft combine next weekend in Chicago.
