NEW YORK KNICKS (54-28) vs. INDIANA PACERS (49-32) ...
Schedule: May 5, May 7, May 11, May 14, May 16, May 18, May 20 / Regular season series tied 2-2

KEYS

FOR NEW YORK:

Carmelo Anthony and JR Smith struggled offensively late in the Celtics series and that can't continue to happen.

- Tyson Chandler has got to stay out of foul trouble against Roy Hibbert and David West. The Knicks are thin in the interior and they could suffer trying to go small against the Pacers for long stretches.

- Steve Novak (if healthy) and Chris Copeland will need to step up and become a factor. Carmelo will often be exhausted in this series and production off the bench is a must. Pablo Prigioni stepped up in Game 6 against Boston, but don't expect him to stay aggressive on the offensive end.

- Iman Shumpert can turn this series upside down with his ability to defend. He made Paul Pierce look old and slow in the first round and it was impressive.

FOR INDIANA:

George Hill has to play a great series. That means 15-plus points and 6 assists or better. The Knicks will receive great guard play, but Hill can see the rim and the floor with his size advantage against Raymond Felton.

- West's inside presence can make a difference if he plays smart and reads the many defensive schemes Mike Woodson will throw his way. Decision-making out of the post will make him a nuisance the entire series.

- Paul George is a defensive marvel, but can he score enough points and defend two great offensive talents like Melo an Smith?

- Expect the Pacers to funnel shooters in the area of Roy Hibbert. Indiana's center can change a series if the Knicks decide to challenge him on a regular basis and not take mid-range shots.
