Phoenix Suns

ADDITIONS:
Michael Beasley (Minnesota), Goran Dragic (Houston), Wesley Johnson (Minnesota), Kendall Marshall (North Carolina), Jermaine O'Neal, PJ Tucker (Bamberg) and Luis Scola (Houston).

SUBTRACTIONS:
Josh Childress (Brooklyn), Grant Hill (LA Clippers), Robin Lopez (New Orleans), Steve Nash (LA Lakers) and Ronnie Price (Portland).

STRENGTHS:
Very nice big man tandem with Luis Scola and Marcin Gortat ... Scola brings smarts and scrappy play while Gortat gives the team length, athleticism and defense ... Gortat looks like an All-Star candidate following a season in which he averaged 15 points and 10 rebounds ... Plenty of three-point threats ... Goran Dragic finished last season on a strong note and could be primed for a breakout year ... Good options at the small forward spot with Michael Beasley and Jared Dudley.

WEAKNESSES:
It's a total makeover with the loss of Steve Nash ... Three of the projected starters are new to the team ... Chemistry could take quite a bit to develop ... Nash made teammates better and some players may now be exposed as to what they really are ... Pretty much every Sun has a shoot first, pass second mentality ... Ball movement could be an issue ... Phoenix is pretty weak at the shooting guard position ... While legit players, Shannon Brown and Wesley Johnson don't scare anybody ...  Many above average players, but no Top 30 guy on the squad ... No clear go-to guy in crunch time ... With this makeup, the Suns don't look like a strong defensive unit by any means ... The locker room dynamics will be interesting to follow with Nash and Grant Hill out and Beasley in ... Who will be the leader now?

PROJECTION:
4th in the Pacific Division / 12th in the Western Conference

PROJECTED STARTERS
Rajon Rondo PG: Goran Dragic Allen Iverson SG: Shannon Brown Andrei Kirilenko SF: Michael Beasley
The talented Slovenian got a big contract with a good but not great body of work. A lof of pressure on him to deliver. Super athletic guard that improves a little bit every year. Will compete for playing time with Wesley Johnson. Talent has never been in question, but all the other things (like effort or focus) have. A player to keep an eye on.
Yi Jianlian PF: Luis Scola C: Marcin Gortat Sixth: Jared Dudley
The Argentinean forward lacks athleticism, but plays hard and is as polished a low-post scorer as you will find.  Averaged a double-double in his first year as a full-time starter. His game is not a thing of beauty, but Gortat gets it done. Good three-point shooter and rebounder. Could be a locker room leader. May not look as good with Steve Nash no longer around.
