Beverley has missed five straight games with a sore right knee. He has averaged 12.9 points, three assists and three rebounds for the Clippers this season. Los Angeles has struggled without its opening-night backcourt of Beverley and rookie Milos Teodosic. As Beverley plans his return on Monday, Teodosic’s return is still uncertain. He suffered an injury to his left plantar fascia in October and isn’t expected back in the near future.
Peter Edmiston: Marc Gasol: “I went to the back and stood for 20 minutes trying to figure out what to say to you guys, and all I can say is an apology. I apologize. That’s not what our fans are used to seeing.”
The injury-depleted and poorly rested Jazz humiliated the Magic 125-85 inside Amway Center. The 40-point defeat tied for the largest home loss in team history and tied for the fourth-largest loss overall. “We should all feel embarrassed to put this kind of performance in front of anywhere but especially in front of our home fans,” Vucevic said after the final buzzer. “Just an embarrassment. For us as professional players, we should have more pride and respond in some way. But we didn’t do that.”
Jessica Camerato: Embiid on Warriors: “They didn’t flip a switch. We were just bad in the third quarter. But you’ve got to give them a lot of credit. They were aggressive and they were physical with us, especially in the second half. They did what they had to do and they got a win.”
