“It would help. I’m not against that,” Waiters said of a possible move by the Heat to acquire Irving. “Just know, there’s an alpha male over there too in myself. I think that’s the biggest thing with everybody – oh he’s got irrational confidence. Like I tell everybody man, I come from [Philadelphia]. If I can make it from here I can make it anywhere. My Mom got shot. My Dad got shot. Come on bro, ain’t nothing I ain’t ever seen. Why not? I need that confidence every day to get through. It’s got nothing to do with ball. It’s who I am. It was instilled in me. Just know there’s an alpha male over there already. [Irving] can come down and we can boogie together.”

A. Sherrod Blakely: Still no official word yet on whether #Celtics Gordon Hayward is done wearing a boot. Source told NBC Sports Boston today that if not today, he’ll be done with the boot sometime “in the coming days.” But they added, no timetable for his return.
Josh Robbins: The Magic have recalled Khem Birch from the G League. So the Magic will have Birch, Jamel Artis and Adreian Payne available to play tonight. Aaron Gordon, Evan Fournier, Jonathan Isaac and Terrence Ross are definitely out, and Arron Afflalo seems unlikely to play.
Memphis Grizzlies General Manager Chris Wallace today announced the team assigned forward Ivan Rabb to the Memphis Hustle, the Grizzlies’ NBA G League affiliate. Rabb (6-10, 220) has appeared in 11 games (nine starts) for the Hustle and has averaged 15.9 points, 9.0 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 1.00 steals and 1.36 blocks in 28.3 minutes. The 20-year-old rookie, who was selected by the Orlando Magic with the 35th pick in the second round of the 2017 NBA Draft, has competed in two games for the Grizzlies this season, logging three minutes.
Tom Orsborn: Aldridge showed some more leadership in welcoming Leonard back with open arms last night: “It’s great. He brings so many things to the game that we don’t have right now. He’s a great defender, he can score in a number of ways and he can make plays. We definitely miss that.”
Josh Robbins: Aaron Gordon will not play tonight against the Clippers. He hasn’t had any setbacks, and he remains in the NBA concussion protocol.

If the team came to him with a trade, Gasol would accept it. “If they think it is best, I would do anything for this franchise,” Gasol says. Wallace and other higher-ups are adamant that is unlikely, even as the losses mount. That seems stubborn, and there is almost certainly a scenario — perhaps Conley getting reinjured, or taking longer than expected to return — where Memphis tests the market. But even in that doomsday sequence, the Grizzlies may even prefer to hold their stars out here and there in some selective tankery, nab a high draft pick, and reload for another run at 45-plus wins.
