Alexey Shved intends to stay in the NBA next season

“I don’t know who said this,’’ Shved said regarding European aspirations. “But I’ve never said this. I’m not thinking about that. I want to stay here. “I’m not thinking about [free agency],’’ added Shved, who won a bronze medal on the 2012 Russian Olympic Team. “I still have this season. The next year I’m going to be a free agent, and that’s my agent’s job. I just want to finish this season in great shape and win a couple more games.’’

This is dedication. I think. I’m really not sure what this is. Vivek Ranadivé, the owner of the Sacramento Kings, tweeted this picture yesterday, vowing to remain unshaven until the Kings had finished signing players. As you can see from Ranadivé’s growth, he’s been at this for DAYS. Unfortunately, free agents like Rajon Rondo can’t even officially sign until the 9th so he’s got a few days left before he can shave. This is the closest a team that hasn’t seen a postseason in a decade can get to a playoff beard.

This one isn’t even done. According to league sources, the sides are still figuring out how best to structure the transaction to take advantage of the “War and Peace” tome that is the NBA collective bargaining agreement. In addition, the Celtics are said to be hard at work on potential corollary moves that will give more sense to all of this, though at present they have no other solid agreements. But right now what you have is David Lee arriving in exchange for Gerald Wallace and another contract (most likely Chris Babb, but possibly Phil Pressey). Taking the bigger picture out of the picture for a moment, this is an absolute steal for the Celts.

Michael Carter-Williams might want to be a little careful about how he phrases his tweets right now. Milwaukee Bucks fans are on edge about the potential of the team relocating elsewhere. Team president Peter Feigin said Monday that the NBA could buy the franchise and relocate it if Wisconsin’s state legislature does not approve public funding for a new arena in Milwaukee. Feigin named Las Vegas and Seattle as the two possibilities of where the Bucks would move. Las Vegas is also home to one of the NBA’s summer leagues, but when Milwaukee fans saw their point guard tweet “Vegas here we come!” on Tuesday it naturally put a scare in them.

But Nurkic has enough work of his own to do. He’s rehabbing after surgery in May to repair a partially torn left patella tendon and that’s going to cost him a summer in which he hoped to work on his game. Though the timetable is in the four-month range, his return date is unknown. Nurkic does not sound optimistic he’d be ready by training camp. Instead he’s focusing on being 100 percent whenever he does return. “I’m going to be patient,” he said. “Everything is going good. (Trainers and doctors) tell me that everything is good. I feel so good, but I must be patient day-by-day.” On the prospect of being ready for training camp: “It’s not important for now,” Nurkic said. “Let’s think about the next 15 years, not one month before, or one less. I just make sure my career is not (hurt) again with this so I just want to make sure I’m fine. It’s not a big deal. I just want to make sure that when I’m back, I’m 100 percent here.”
