Spencer Checketts: Just spoke with a high-ranking member of Jazz FO who shed some interesting details on Quin Snyder extension… Dennis Lindsey wasn’t involved in any contract discussions. Dennis understands how important his working relationship is with Quin, and didn’t want anything to detract from that or cause distractions heading into a vital off-season for the Jazz. With the blessing of the Miller family, Jazz President Steve Starks sat down with Quin to begin discussions regarding a new extension. The conversations were described as “seamless” and “cordial” as the Jazz knew they “had their guy” and Quin “really wanted to be here” …
Spencer Checketts: Jazz had exercised a TO in Quin’s original contract, so Snyder technically wasn’t entering the final year. He had two years remaining. Terms were not disclosed, but the deal was described as “very long term” with the understanding both sides are happy with the situation
Luke Walton and the Lakers agreed to a deal Thursday night, paving the way for him to become the next head coach of the team. Walton, 36, reportedly has a five-year deal worth about $25 million. The first four years of the deal are guaranteed.
