The New Orleans Pelicans announced today that the team has guard Bo McCalebb. Per team policy, terms of the deal were not disclosed. McCalebb, 6-0, 183, most recently played for Bayern Munich of the BBL in Germany. Undrafted in 2008, McCalebb is a seven-year veteran in Europe, playing in Turkey, Serbia and Italy, in addition to Germany. McCalebb’s professional highlights include five league championships, two All-Euroleague Second Team selections (2010, 2012), two Italian League Finals MVP awards (2011, 2012), the 2010 Serbian League Finals MVP, the 2012 Italian League MVP and the 2012 Alphonso Ford Trophy – awarded to the Euroleague’s scoring champion.

Spencer Checketts: Just spoke with a high-ranking member of Jazz FO who shed some interesting details on Quin Snyder extension… Dennis Lindsey wasn’t involved in any contract discussions. Dennis understands how important his working relationship is with Quin, and didn’t want anything to detract from that or cause distractions heading into a vital off-season for the Jazz. With the blessing of the Miller family, Jazz President Steve Starks sat down with Quin to begin discussions regarding a new extension. The conversations were described as “seamless” and “cordial” as the Jazz knew they “had their guy” and Quin “really wanted to be here” …
Spencer Checketts: Jazz had exercised a TO in Quin’s original contract, so Snyder technically wasn’t entering the final year. He had two years remaining. Terms were not disclosed, but the deal was described as “very long term” with the understanding both sides are happy with the situation
Luke Walton and the Lakers agreed to a deal Thursday night, paving the way for him to become the next head coach of the team. Walton, 36, reportedly has a five-year deal worth about $25 million. The first four years of the deal are guaranteed.
