The Knicks still may shop at K-Mart later this summer. According to an NBA source, Kenyon Martin, a free agent, went through with his offseason left ankle surgery and is on schedule to be ready for training camp. The Knicks, pending what they do in their hunt for a big man with their $3.3 million mini mid-level exception, could have interest in Martin later in the summer. New York Post

As tough as it has been for Knicks fans to watch their team during the past month, no one has taken the losing harder than Kenyon Martin. His chronically injured ankle has forced him to just sit there while his head and heart tell him he could have made a difference. "It eats at me," Martin said before Monday night's game. "Just knowing I can help the situation, me being around as long as I have, just knowing what I bring to the table, it's very frustrating to watch. Seeing us go out and give up 40 points in a quarter, 120 for a game, it's very frustrating to watch." Newsday

I generally hate writing posts on these TMZ clips because being a celebrity does not mean that people should just be able to approach you with a camera and badger you with questions in a gratingly obnoxious tone of voice. However, I’ll make an exception for this one with Kenyon Martin since it was funny and he didn’t seem that upset about being bothered. “I think [sleeved jerseys] are WNBA jerseys,” Martin laughed. “We had to wear them on Christmas, so I had to go with it. That’s the job. You gotta wear the company uniform.” The Big Lead

Knicks forward Kenyon Martin was in a walking boot prior to Wednesday's game against Portland, and is set to miss "probably more than a week" of action as a result of his ongoing left ankle pain. Martin, 36, has been struggling with the ankle since last April, when he sprained it in a regular-season game. Since then he has been able play only sporadically. "It's just from overuse, man," he said, adding that team doctors advised him to wear the boot to take pressure off the ankle. Wall Street Journal

Back to the bench went Martin with a sprained left ankle.Though, by all accounts, he did not need to stay there for the rest of the 114-88 Knicks blowout of the Celtics. But he did. “Kenyon could have played if we needed him after rolling his ankle in the first half,” Knicks coach Mike Woodson said. “But we elected to sit him.” By game’s end, the Knicks were recruiting the ushers to finish this slaughter. “Just rolled it again. I probably could have finished the game if we weren’t up so big,” said Martin, who vowed “without a question” to face the Cavaliers Thursday and Heat Saturday. “I’ll be all right. … Just a disappointment, right away get back, feel good and just do the same thing over and over. A little frustrating, but I’ll be all right.” New York Post
