The Hawks intend to send John Jenkins and Adreian Payne on an NBA Development League assignment Friday. The move will give the little-used players needed game action. Jenkins and Payne will be assigned to Fort Wayne, the Hawks’ D-League affiliate. The Mad Ants play six games in 10 days beginning Friday. Both are expected to travel Thursday evening. The Atlanta Hawks have recalled rookie forward/center Adreian Payne from the Fort Wayne Mad Ants of the NBA Development League, it was announced today by Head Coach Mike Budenholzer. Payne appeared in two games with the Mad Ants (at Erie on 11/21 and 11/22), averaging 12.0 points, 10.0 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 1.0 blocks in 31.1 minutes. In last night’s contest, he totaled 17 points, 13 rebounds (five on the offensive glass), two assists and two blocks in 31 minutes (4-9 FGs, 9-11 FTs). NBA.com

The Atlanta Hawks have assigned rookie forward/center Adreian Payne to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants of the NBA Development League, it was announced today by Head Coach Mike Budenholzer. He was Atlanta’s first-round pick (15th overall) in 2014. The Mad Ants’ next two games are Friday and Saturday night at Erie. NBA.com

Adreian Payne will get a chance to play. The Hawks will send the first-round draft pick to the NBA Development League this weekend for pair of games with Fort Wayne. Payne has not played this season. He has been inactive in nine of the Hawks’ 10 games. He missed the first five games with plantar fasciitis in this left foot. “I’m looking forward to it,” Payne told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution following practice Thursday. “It’s a great opportunity for me to go out and get some game reps and get ready to get back with my team. We’ve got a lot of players. We are deep. It’s just a process that you’ve got to go through. I’m willing to do it because I want to get better. Hawks rookie Adreian Payne was inactive for the fourth straight game Saturday as he continues to battle plantar fasciitis in his left foot. The forward/center has yet to play a game this season. The Atlanta Hawks have signed rookie forward/center Adreian Payne, it was announced today by President of Basketball Operations/General Manager Danny Ferry. Per team policy, terms of the agreement were not announced. Payne was selected 15th overall by Atlanta in the 2014 NBA Draft. NBA.com

The Hawks are finalizing the details on a rookie contract with first-round draft pick Adreian Payne Friday morning. The deal could be signed and officially announced shortly thereafter. The Hawks selected Payne 15th overall in the NBA Draft in June. The 6-foot-10, 245-pound forward played four seasons at Michigan State. According to the NBA Collective Bargaining Agreement, for his draft position, Payne’s salary will be $1,546,100 next season and $1,615,700 in 2015-16 as guaranteed deals.
