Wojnarowski blamed the suit on "a miscommunication between my agent and me," saying: "if they had given him a warning, he had not passed it on to me." "I had no idea it had gotten to that point," he said. "I'm literally sending them the money today." Wojnarowski said he did "a great deal of reporting" for the Valvano bio, but that "the demands of my job at Yahoo! made it diffcult for me to finish it." New York Post |

How did Yahoo ascend to the top rung in sports traffic? There are many different factors, including the fact that so many people use Yahoo e-mail, which pulls visitors to its home page. Yahoo.com is the most visited site on the Internet. Yahoo also gets its share of loyal visitors from its fantasy sports offerings. Adrian Wojnarowski is Yahoo's national NBA writer, as well as a 1991 journalism graduate from St. Bonaventure. He has his own take on why the site does so well: good journalism. "We have great contacts, we break a lot of news, and we cover things in ways that other people aren't," Wojnarowski said by phone from his home in northern New Jersey. "Our numbers on stories we've broken are extraordinary." Buffalonews.com "The LeBron story, and the traffic that created for us, show that we were able to lend a unique perspective to what was going on," Wojnarowski said. "We aren't doing TV deals with LeBron; we aren't trying to be his buddy; we're covering him," he said, drawing a not-too-subtle comparison to the Worldwide Leader. "We aren't a corporate television partner with pro leagues or college conferences. No one is trying to dictate to us how to cover things. I think that's a huge advantage" for Yahoo. Buffalonews.com |
