Ross could not crack the Raptors’ small lineup down the stretch, with DeMar DeRozan, Landry Fields and Alan Anderson each playing ahead of him. Valanciunas played a few fourth-quarter minutes with Amir Johnson in foul trouble, but came out in the final stretch. Kyle Lowry’s four final-minute points won the game for the Raptors. “I had to get Jonas out at the end, bless his heart,” Casey said. He said, ‘Coach, [Cavaliers forward Tristan Thompson] is coming really fast.’ I said, ‘Guess what: All of them are coming fast.’ … Everything is so fast for rookies. I don’t care who you are, what level of rookie you are: It is a learning experience. National Post |

![]() The problem is in a numbers game where the Raptors have room for six or seven wing players next season, Anderson seems to fall somewhere in line behind Gay, DeRozan, Ross and Fields. As a restricted free agent coming off a year in which he has averaged 11.2 points a game in just over 24 minutes a night while giving his team better than average defence at the opposite end, someone is going to offer Anderson a job. At which point the Raptors will have to decide whether to match or let him go. Toronto Sun |

Although Anderson is still acclimated to his new teammate, he's had plenty of time to get to know the other guys. Speaking with ESPN Playbook this week, here's his take on Toronto's locker room: Best dancer: "Me and Quincy Acy. I've got pretty much everything; I'm versatile with it. I can give you the Dougie, I can give you the Kid 'n Play, I'll take it back old school, new school, whatever you want. Me and Q always dance during the pregame just to try to get ourselves going. Q's from Dallas, so he's got the D-town boogie." ESPN.com |

Not that it matters much, but the NBA rescinded the second technical foul Dwight Howard picked up in the Lakers' 108-103 loss Sunday against Toronto. Howard was automatically ejected after that technical foul, which took place after Toronto forward Alan Anderson made contact with him as they ran down the court. The ejection took place with 1:18 left in the second quarter. Howard had picked up a technical foul earlier in the game for arguing a non-call. "It's too late now," Howard said Monday when informed of the NBA's decision. Los Angeles Times |

Yeah, they practiced yesterday, was no compelling news at all; a quick workout setting up the three games in four days that starts tonight and, as you might expect, lots of chatter about the contribution of Jose Calderon of late. The money quote came from Alan Anderson: “He's like the glue. He does everything, man. Without Jose I don't even know if we could win any of these games. He's amazing to us. Rebounding, passing, vocally leads everybody, talking, gets everybody in their positions. He's just like our calm, poised leader on the floor. It's great to have him.” Toronto Star |

Alan Anderson is one good practice away from returning. The problem is the Raptors’ next full practice won’t come until Thursday. The small forward went through his first pain-free workout on Sunday, calling it “a big step, a very big step.” “It’s pretty much right around the corner,” Anderson said of his return. “I just have to have that one more full-court practice where I’ll be going up and down the court.” Toronto Sun |

But knowing Garnett as well as he does, Anderson will not make the same mistake Ray Allen made in the season opener for the Celtics when he went over and tried to exchange pleasantries with a guy who may have had a role in inventing the term “game face.” Garnett did not even acknowledge Allen’s presence when the former teammate and former member of Boston’s big three came over before the game and tried a pre-game greeting in his new Miami uniform. “You don’t speak to KG until after the game,” Anderson said with a laugh. “You don’t say nothing to him because he’s (all business). You just leave him alone and don’t say nothing until after.” Toronto Sun |

For the record, Adelman was (a) joking about the first part; and (b) being totally serious about the last part. Adelman called Lowry one of his favourite players. Moreover, Adelman was right: Lowry eviscerated Minnesota. He had 22 points, seven rebounds and five assists to lead the Raptors to their first win of the year, 105-86 over the Timberwolves. “He’s a bull. He’s just a bull,” said Raptors guard Alan Anderson, who had 18 of the Raptors’ 42 bench points. “His height [six feet] doesn’t tell a lot about him because he acts like he’s seven feet out there. He’s not scared of nothing. He’s going to get in there. He’s getting their rebounds with 7-footers. He’s fighting each position. Anytime you see that from the bench or you see that as a young player, it’s like, ‘Damn, I’ve got to get ready, too.’” National Post “He just comes at you,” Adelman said. “The other guys, it rubs off on them, how hard he plays. He’s gotten better and better each year. When we first got him he was really inconsistent shooting the ball. Now he’s a good free-throw shooter. He shoots the threes. He’s just got his game where he’s improved it every year.” National Post Alan Anderson on the Raptors excellent chemistry: "we don't have any knuckleheads" "It’s a younger energy. Guys were looking forward to this season. Guys get along, not only on the court but off the court as well. We all have a good time, we don’t have like groups and cliques and things like that, everyone does everything together. Anytime you have that, you have a good team chemistry." Sulia |
