Speaking of free agents, there doesn't seem to be much of a market for Cavs forward Alonzo Gee to date. There has been no offer for the Cavs to match. One agent said he'd recommend the 6-foot-6 forward to take the $2.7 million qualifying offer he was offered. Talk of him getting a four-year, $16 million offer from the Suns is long gone. The Cavs could still make him a multiyear offer that would be extremely cap friendly. Cavs forward Luke Harangody took his qualifying offer in almost record time, which was a smart move. He was probably facing a minimum make-good contract elsewhere or a deal in Europe. He jumped on the $1.1 million offer from the Cavs. News-Herald

On the cusp of the NBA free agency period, the Cleveland Cavaliers extended an olive branch to small forward Alonzo Gee, ensuring that the team would have the ability to match any offer he received in order to keep the athletic swingman with the team. Fox 8′s John Telich reported on Tuesday evening that Gee is “underwhelmed” by the team’s offer — one that he has yet to sign — and is considering not participating in the team’s Summer League program which is set to tip of in Las Vegas later this month. Cavaliers forward Alonzo Gee is considered among that group following his best season as a pro. But Gee is a restricted free agent, giving the Cavs an opportunity to match any offer he might receive from another team. And that is exactly what they plan to do, according to several league sources familiar with the Cavs' thinking. FOXSportsOhio

Initially, insiders felt Gee’s future as a Cav hinged on whom they selected in the June 28 draft. The Cavs own the No. 4 overall pick, and are said to be leaning toward selecting a wing player such as North Carolina small forward Harrison Barnes. However, with an abundance of salary-cap space and appreciation for Gee's performance this past season, chances now appear slim that he’ll be playing anywhere but Cleveland in 2012-13 and beyond. Don’t be surprised if the Hawks make a run at former Sixth Man of the Year Jamal Crawford, who spent the past season with the Trail Blazers. Ray Allen (Celtics) and Alonzo Gee (Cavs) are also said to be on their radar. FOXSportsOhio

Cavs forward Alonzo Gee might draw some serious interest this summer in free agency. The Suns could make a lucrative offer to Gee. One source said they could offer Gee a four-year, $16 million offer and hope that the Cavs don’t match it. Morning Journal

NBA teams have until June 30 to tender qualifying offers to potential restricted free agents. The Cavs have three such players in center Semih Erden and forwards Alonzo Gee and Luke Harangody. They'll definitely give Gee a qualifying offer. He said he wants to return to the Cavs. Erden didn't sparkle last season and at times, he sat on the bench for long periods. He's still a 7-footer with skills. News-Herald

There's little doubt the Cavs will make a qualifying offer to Gee and try to sign him to a multiyear contract. I've gotten no indication from Gee he wants to play elsewhere, so it's just a matter of striking a deal. I'll be interested to see how much the Cavs offer him. He's a starter right now on a bad team, but ultimately he might return to the bench where he was so effective to begin the season. The Cavs love his energy, athleticism and attitude. As for Gibson, about half of his $4.8 million for next season is guaranteed. My guess is he will be back with the team, at least to start the season. But Gibson needs to find a way to remain healthy and rediscover his jump shot. Cleveland Plain Dealer

Of all the Cavaliers' free agents, forward Alonzo Gee has the best chance of returning. The Cavs would like to sign him to a multiyear deal. He said there's "no doubt" he'd like to come back. "I'm going to play it out and see what happens," Gee said. News-Herald

Gee, 24, had 10 points, five rebounds and two steals in 22 minutes in the Cavs' 113-105 loss at Utah on Tuesday. He plays with confidence and uses his athleticism to his advantage. "I feel like I belong," he said. "I continue to keep working and keep getting better and keep improving." Scott loves the improvement he sees in Gee. "The biggest leap with 'Zo is he has some confidence," he said. News-Herald
