According to the team, Nocioni is still on the active roster, but the team is allowing him to explore other options. "His official status is that I don't know if the paperwork is done, but we've worked out a deal with him to allow him to either go on with another team maybe, or if not, I talked to him last night, go to Argentina and get ready for the Olympics," 76ers coach Doug Collins said. According to a source, the Sixers bought out the contract of Andres Nocioni Friday night. One day earlier, they had acquired 6-foot-6 wing player Sam Young in a trade with Memphis that virtually made Nocioni a spectator from here on out, which had been his role for most of this season leading up to buyout. You look very moved, very happy about this success [winning the Super 8 tournament in Argentina]. Andres Nocioni: It's just that one must not forget what the essence of this sport is. As much as I play in another world, I like this. I'm very much a small-town man. I'm happy in this atmosphere, with people shouting and supporting us, with the respect showed by my teammates, playing with friends like Leo Gutiérrez and Sergio Hernández. I enjoyed this much more than I would winning an NBA title. I'm happy like this, here I play because I like it and I can feel it, there in the United States I play because it's my job. La Nacion

The unbelievable thing is that Andres Nocioni accepted to play without an insurance because, as he explained, "it was something complicated and very expensive for the club and at the end it didn't cover it all. Also, it would take more days for me to start playing, it could even prevent me from playing the Super 8 tournament. I took that decision because I love basketball, I need to play." Cancha Llena

Though Ginobili, the All-Star guard, has said he would not consider playing overseas unless, and until, the entire NBA season is canceled, he has gotten offers from European teams on a daily basis, according to his agent. “Nothing is imminent,” Herb Rudoy, Ginobili’s Chicago-based agent reported, via text message, “although we field inquiries from European teams every day.” Giniobili offered Splitter congratulations for his signing in Valencia via a Twitter posting.
