Metta World Peace: Andrew Goudlock is amazing. I always told him that he was the second best scorer on the team. I told him that when he was a rookie. Twitter @MettaWorldPeace Metta World Peace: When Andrew is in shape , there is absolutely no one who can guard him. Andrew is the best scorer in this series. #Lakerenergy Twitter @MettaWorldPeace |

Goudelock was drafted second overall by the Sioux Falls Skyforce, for whom he expects to play both guard positions, although he’s surprisingly grown accustomed to one in particular. “I think I’ll play a little bit of both,” Goudelock said. “I’ve grown accustomed to liking the point guard position a little bit more than I like the shooting guard position, which is kind of odd for me. I think I might be playing that a little bit more depending on what the coaches want me to do there. I think being a versatile player who can play two position is a great weapon for me. I’m going to continue to do what I do and add other pieces to my game. HoopsWorld |

![]() The Los Angeles Lakers waived second-year guard Andrew Goudelock on Saturday, trimming their roster to 15 players. The former second-round pick from the College of Charleston became something of a fan favorite last season, earning the nickname "Mini Mamba" from teammate Kobe Bryant for his ability to come off the bench and score quickly and in bunches. He averaged 4.4 points in 10.5 minutes a game in 40 games as a rookie. ESPN.com |

![]() The Lakers are leaning toward keeping 14 players on their roster, one below the NBA maximum, meaning Robert Sacre might be the only one to stay among three players with nonguaranteed contracts. Sacre, the last player taken in the June draft, has averaged 5.7 points, 4.7 rebounds and 24 minutes in preseason with the Lakers. Andrew Goudelock and Darius Johnson-Odom haven't received much playing time in exhibition play and are longshots to make the roster. Chris Douglas-Roberts and Greg Somogyi were cut Monday. Los Angeles Times I'm leaning more and more that it's Robert Sacre who makes the Lakers and that's it. I can't see Andrew Goudelock making it given Coach Brown is trying to develop him as a point guard - when the team already has FOUR point guards in Nash/Blake/Duhon/Morris. Darius Johnson-Odom is a nice prospect athletically but a 6'2" shooting guard can be a difficult fit when the team already has Kobe/Meeks/Ebanks at the position. Considering tax, I could see Lakers go with just 14. Sulia Douglas-Roberts, a third-year player, played in four preseason games and averaged 4.0 points and 0.8 rebounds in 8.3 minutes. “(Douglas-Roberts) played well,” Coach Mike Brown said. “Obviously he didn’t play well enough to really stand out and earn that spot, but all four of the guys that we released … they made our camp competitive. They brought something to the table. That’s what you hope for from guys that you’re bringing to camp, that they can at least make it competitive.” Orange County Register |

![]() Since the Lakers' season ended a little more than a month ago, Goudelock said he has dropped from 215 pounds to 203 through various changes in his diet and workout routine. "It'll make me a litlte bit quicker and it'll make me a little bit more explosive," said Goudelock, who wants to weigh 195 pounds to open training camp. " Los Angeles Times Whether that helps his chances on the Lakers exercising their $789,000 option on him isn't fully clear. The Lakers likely won't officially decide anything until Goudelock plays in the Las Vegas Summer League from July 13-22. But after Coach Mike Brown and General Manager Mitch Kupchak told Goudelock in his exit interview that he needs to work on his defense, ball handling and point-guard skills, the Lakers' guard remained optimistic he will correct those issues enough and continue wearing purple & gold. The Los Angeles Lakers teamed up with their official airline partner, Delta Air Lines and Heal the Bay to clean up Dockweiler State Beach. Andrew Bynum, Andrew Goudelock and the Laker Girls each captained a team of 20 people in a trash pick-up competition. One hundred and eighty eight pounds of trash was collected overall, and Team Gold, led by Andrew Goudelock, was the winning team, collecting seventy eight pounds of trash. NBA.com Andrew Goudelock and Darius Morris didn't get a chance to participate in the NBA Summer League in Las Vegas last year because it was canceled in the wake of the lockout, but the rookie guards could be headed there when it resumes July 13-22. "We haven't really thought of summer league yet," Brown said. "Naturally, Goudelock and Morris (would be candidates). I don't know about anybody else. Obviously, for the two rookies, it would be great for them." Los Angeles Daily News |

In a sign of Andrew Goudelock's slightly increasing profile, officials from Chinese shoe company Peak wrote a greeting to Chinese vice president Xi Jinping on Goudelock's shoes Friday night. Xi was at Staples Center for the game against Phoenix. Goudelock has a two-year endorsement deal with Peak. "Just to be able to represent a company is the biggest thing for me," said Goudelock, selected 46th overall by the Lakers last June. "I'm trying to make my way. They're trying to make their way. It's a good fit." Los Angeles Times |
