After spending training camp with the Oklahoma City Thunder this fall, former Knicks and Syracuse player Andy Rautins has caught on with the NBA squad's respective D-League affiliate, the Tulsa 66ers. The Canadian guard spent his rookie year in the NBA with New York during the 2010-11 season. Though he played sparingly, Rautins still managed to develop favor with the Knickerbocker fan base, appearing in a number of web videos with then fellow rookie Landry Fields. The two also went on to star in their own web series, fittingly titled, "The Andy & Landry Show." A couple of his more entertaining appearances (albeit on camera, not on the court), can be found below. Ridiculous Upside |

The Thunder announced Saturday they have waived non-guaranteed players Andy Rautins, Daniel Orton and Hollis Thompson, meaning Liggins won the final roster spot. If the three players aren’t signed by another NBA team, it’s likely they will join the Tulsa 66ers and remain part of the Thunder organization. Liggins came into camp as a longshot, seen mostly as a guy to just fill out the preseason roster. But he obviously won over Scott Brooks, playing extremely hard, doing little things, hustling everywhere and making plays. He earned that 15th spot. Liggins not only played well enough to win the spot, but he’s even opened the door for thoughts to if he could be a contributor down the line. DailyThunder.com |

Dwain Price: The Mavs will waive G Andy Raitins, who was acquired in that 3-team trade today with NY and Washington. Twitter ![]() The New York Knicks have acquired Tyson Chandler via a sign-and-trade as part of a three-team deal. The Knicks sent veteran center Ronny Turiaf, cash considerations and a 2013 second-round pick to Washington. They also dealt second-year guard Andy Rautins to the Dallas Mavericks. Dallas sent a second-round 2012 draft choice to Washington and the draft rights to Ahmad Nivins and Giorgos Printezis to New York. Washington also sent a future second round draft choice to Dallas. ESPN.com In addition, to create enough cap space to sign Chandler, the Knicks waived veteran guard Chauncey Billups, designating him as a club's amnesty player. Billups and his $14.2 million contract will not count against the Knicks salary cap. "This is an important day for the New York Knicks," acting general manager Glen Grunwald said in a statement. "Signing a player of Tyson's caliber, with championship experience, to this roster, is an opportunity we could not pass up." ESPN.com Chandler opted to sign with the Knicks after being heavily courted by the Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets, among other teams. The sign-and-trade gives Dallas a sizeable trade exception. The Knicks had to move Turiaf (scheduled to make $4.8 million this season) and Billups to create cap space to sign Chandler. According to the New York Times, the terms of Chandler's deal are believed to be in the range of $58 million for four years. ESPN.com The 7-foot-1 Chandler brings size and paint presence the Knicks have lacked in recent seasons. "He brings everything that we didn't have," coach Mike D'Antoni said on Friday, before the deal was announced. "... We got a lot better, real quick." Like the rest of his NBA brethren, Andy Rautins is going to miss a few paychecks during the lockout. To offset that, he’s found a way to save some money. The Knicks guard has stayed in his parents’ home outside of Syracuse during the lockout, sleeping in his childhood bedroom. “It’s nice to get some home cooked meals up here,” Rautins, a former Syracuse star, said in a phone interview. “It’s nice because it’s a rare opportunity to spend time with family and friends. Normally, you’d been in a busy season by this time. But I’ve been trying to see the positives in [staying home] and there’s a bunch so far. It’s saving me a lot of money right now and I think that’s a big concern for a lot of players.” ESPN.com If the lockout extends, Rautins will consider pursuing an internship at his financial adviser’s Manhattan firm to learn about investment advice and financial planning. “Andy is actively planning for his life after pro sports,” says Mark Doman, Rautins’ financial adviser and the senior vice president of True Capital Management. “A lot of guys say it, but Andy wants to take steps during his career to make sure he is financially secure.” ESPN.com |
