So as it stands right now, what is your plan for next season? Andy Rautins: Right now I’m still with the Knicks and I’m just going to play it by ear. Obviously my goal is to stay in the league and be in New York and to be a part of that system. It’s got great fans, great community, great coaches. The Score

It’s funny to hear about Amar’e as a leader. So often that’s been a knock against him, but when I had seen you guys play this year, he was extremely vocal and involved from opening tip to the final buzzer. How has he been as a leader? Andy Rautins: He’s the most down to earth guy and his personality is enormous. It’s larger than life in New York. He’s my locker buddy, he’s right next door to me, we’re always joking and messing around but when it came down to it, to working, he was the first one in the gym and he set a great example for all of the young guys on the team. While not singling out Thompson specifically, Andy Rautins expressed disappointment that some of the country’s top talents are not on hand helping Canada try to qualify for the London Olympics. “It certainly frustrates me because when you look at our team they could help us out a great deal, help the team get to a whole new level,” he said. “For me, I think it’s first and foremost if you’ve got an opportunity to represent your country, you do it. Playing against professionals that are in the NBA, Euroleague allstars, this is basketball at its finest in the summer, so for some of these guys not to come out, some of these guys that are top talents top 10 picks in the league, it just doesn’t make sense to me. It's not carved in stone, but the likelihood is Andy Rautins has played his final basketball game at the 2010 world championship. A knee injury that got aggravated Sunday in a loss to Lithuania kept Rautins in street clothes for Tuesday's game with France. Head coach and Andy's father, Leo Rautins said Tuesday night his son was probably done for the duration. "The pain is too restrictive and he's got a high threshold," the senior Rautins said. "He has played through a lot of (crap)." Toronto Sun
