Most everyone expects that Anthony Bennett is headed to the NBA now that his freshman season is over, and it’s widely assumed that he’ll declare for the draft on Monday (UNLV has scheduled a 3 p.m. press conference for Bennett that day). But if his decision has already been made, Bennett is doing a good job of keeping it quiet. Findlay Prep senior Christian Wood, a UNLV Class of 2013 recruit, is tight with his former high school teammate, but even he says he’s been given no indication of what Bennett will do. “I have no idea,” Wood said after a recent practice. “He hasn’t told me.” RunRebs

The belief by some NBA college scouts is that it ultimately will come down to Smart and McLemore, with Noel and Bennett next in line. If you're not seeing them at the top of your favorite draft board, my guess would be that it's because this is March; way too much time to kill and stock rising-and-falling drama to create to peg what NBA scouting departments are really thinking. There were some concerns raised about the health of UNLV forward Anthony Bennett, who had fallen into a slump as he battled a shoulder injury. But he has adjusted, and in the Mountain West Conference tournament he averaged 19.0 points and 7.7 rebounds in three games. The Rebels and Bennett, who is certain to be a Top 10 pick, are a No. 5 seed and will open with California. “I think he has laid any concerns about the shoulder to rest,” one scout said. “It is something that probably needs rest, but the fact that he is playing through it and has gotten back to his game is going to help him.” Sporting News

One executive, on the growing draft chatter for UNLV power forward Anthony Bennett: "I've had people tell me... he would be their No. 1 pick." There is the obvious disclaimer. Because someone from another front office says something, especially related to the draft, does not make it so. But honesty-based networking does happen. Players are discussed, especially if the conversation involves scouts and execs from teams that won't be picking in a certain range. Sulia
