Just three games into his new stint as a Jiangsu Dragon, however, six-year NBA pro Antoine Wright appears to be changing some of the newly formed perceptions, not only his by his stellar play (32 ppg, and 7 rpg, all wins), but also by his humbleness, work ethic and seriousness towards playing in China. NiuBBall.com Yes, that’s right: NBA guys have such a terrible reputation in China right now that teams are separating themselves entirely from anybody who has played recently in the League, regardless of the team’s need and the player’s ability and makeup. Teams didn’t want him strictly because he had the perceived stink of the Association all over his basketball resume. NiuBBall.com |

A source told me this morning that Antoine Wright, who last played in the NBA with the Toronto Raptors last season, is working out a deal with an undisclosed CBA team. Expect a lot of foreign player movement in the next few weeks as teams being to clear out disgruntled/underperforming players before the season gets too late. NiuBBall.com The Cleveland Cavaliers released under-performing Jawad Williams on Monday, but they may not leave his roster spot open for long. The Cavaliers are expected soon to host NBA D-League standouts Kyle Weaver, Othyus Jeffers, Patrick Ewing Jr. and Marcus Landry along with Antoine Wright and Alonzo Gee for a workout, according to league sources. It's early, but Sacramento Kings forward Antoine Wright has won an NBA award: "Mr. Average." The league said Mr. Wright, who had no single significant statistic through Sunday's games, has striking similarities to league-average height, weight, age and experience. That he's never averaged more than 7.3 points or 24 minutes a game in a season means "his play on the court screams average," a league spokesman says. Wall Street Journal |
