![]() Daniels' agent, Colin Bryant of Dutt Sports Services, is keeping all doors open for his client. He believes the guard can still compete in the NBA, telling RU, "Antonio is at a crossroad in his career. He has always been in top physical condition and we believe he can still play at a high level. He is not retired and we contunue to seek playing opportunities. However, he has been preparing himself for life after basketball. We have been approached about potential coaching and broadcasting opportunities. Whether he plays or begins his post playing career, Antonio's future is bright" Ridiculous Upside "I'd like to play until my body won't let me," Daniels added. "I'm in fantastic shape. I'm in better shape than I was when I came into the NBA fifteen years ago. You only have so much control over what happens, though. My job is to remain in shape and be ready." Ridiculous Upside |

Q: You mentioned it isn't too late to sign a point guard for the playoffs. Who is available, who would you pick, and who would you cut to make room for him? -- Tino. A: I would sign Anthony Carter, perhaps consider Antonio Daniels, and cut Eddy Curry. (Although I do appreciate the politics, with Eddy represented by the same firm as Wade, LeBron and Bosh.) ![]() A growing trend in the league has been N.B.A. veterans, like Antoine Walker, Antonio Daniels and Mikki Moore, signing with the D- League in an effort to make their way back to the N.B.A. It is a situation akin to baseball’s Class AAA where there is a wide range in potential ages among the players. “Those guys are all N.B.A.-caliber players, so that improves the talent level of the league, but they also are coaches on the floor for the rookies and the young guys,” Reed said. “It doesn’t hurt that it attracts greater fan attention.” New York Times |

![]() Legends point guard Antonio Daniels said opponents constantly ask him, "What's it like to have a girl coach?" "The only difference is the fact we can't get dressed in the locker room if she's there," he said. "She knows what she's doing." Detroit Free Press Lieberman said there IS one big difference between the D-League and the WNBA, of course. "You don't have 10 guys ovulating in the same locker room and an emotional wreck," she said. "I mean, that's just a fact. People don't think about that. Men tend to let things go or have it out, where women hold on to it, don't let it go. It's just part of it." ![]() The Frisco-based Legends found out later in the evening that they won't have coach-on-the-floor Antonio Daniels for their best-of-3 series with the Tulsa 66ers, because Daniels has finally realized his season-long goal by securing a 10-day contract from the Philadelphia 76ers. Daniels will be joining the Sixers on Monday, sources close to the situation told ESPNDallas.com, to help them cope with the indefinite loss of guard Lou Williams, who suffered a hamstring injury Saturday night in Milwaukee. The increasing reluctance of Sixers coach Doug Collins to play touted rookie Evan Turner convinced Philly to pursue a veteran fill-in. ESPN.com Lieberman said many NBA teams have contacted her throughout the season about Daniels, who missed time in November and December after tearing ligaments in his right (shooting) pinkie. Philadelphia Inquirer "No greater feeling in the D-league than to have that conversation with [your] guy and tell him he has gone to the show," Lieberman said Sunday night via her Twitter account. It was June 1999, in the back of the Madison Square Garden visitor’s locker room, and Antonio Daniels and Tim Duncan were friends alone, already comparing championship notes. That’s when Daniels told Duncan he couldn’t believe what had almost happened. Daniels admitted to Duncan he’d almost cried out on the floor, in front of everyone. Duncan whispered back: “I think I did cry.” San Antonio Express-News |

![]() Marc Stein: Downer part for oldest player in D-League history: Word is Blazers were giving strong consideration to making (Antonio) Daniels season's first callup. Twitter The Texas Legends thus took it hard upon learning that Daniels, who's trying to get back to the NBA as the D-League's oldest player ever at 35, will be lost for at least four to six weeks thanks to a hand injury that probably will require surgery. "We will miss him dearly on many levels," Legends coach Nancy Lieberman said Thursday night. ESPN.com |

![]() Daniels, who at 35 will be the oldest player to ever play in the Development League, is working to get back to the NBA and seems to know that the D-League -- which produced a record 27 NBA call-ups last season -- is going to be the quickest route. "I haven't played in a game since 2009 during the playoffs with New Orleans where I tore my meniscus," Daniels said. "I had surgery last year so I was doing physical therapy, rehabbing, so many different things just trying to get my knee back together, trying to get my cardiovascular back and trying to get my body back right. Now, I feel right, just where I want to be." "Instead of going overseas, playing in China, it's just easier for me to get back to where I'm going -- where I need to be -- by coming to the D-League." FanHouse.com A lot has changed for the 6-foot-2 guard out of Bowling Green, and while his Legends jersey probably doesn't seem as comfortable as those he wore with the Grizzlies, San Antonio Spurs, Portland Trail Blazers, Seattle SuperSonics, Washington Wizards or New Orleans Hornets, he's still pursuing his passion. "It's still basketball. It's something I enjoy doing, it's a passion of mine and I needed to get out and just play," Daniels told FanHouse of playing this season in the D-League after spending 12 seasons in the NBA. "I'm trying to make the guys that I'm playing with better as a team and be who I am. That's all I can do." FanHouse.com |
