HoopsHype Armond Hill rumors
The interview website Piqued has published an interview with Armond Hill, an Assistant Coach for the Los Angeles Clippers (NBA). Hill talks about his time coaching the 2008 NBA Champion Boston Celtics, names some of his “dream team,” and offers insight into how he goes about coaching NBA legends and perpetual All-Stars. Excerpt: “People think, ‘Oh the pros, they don’t want to listen, etc...’ That’s the furthest thing from the truth. See, the number one thing about the pros is that—and believe it or not, they all want to get better. The key thing is, when you tell them something, you better be right. Sportando
David Aldridge: For star players, with any coach, there's that fine line between challenging them and ticking them off. How does Doc move along that line? CP: I'm not the first pretty good player that he's coached. We've also been given the chance to know each other. And it's not just Doc. It's the assistant coaches as well. Those guys, we have a great mix of our coaches. All of them know their role; they don't try to step on anybody else's toes. Armond (Hill) is great. All of them have their different personalities. TLue (Tyronn Lue) is a guy I've gotten close to. And it's funny, I played against TLue. I played against TLue, I think, four or five years. His basketball knowledge, how much TLue challenges me every game, every possession, is something that I need. NBA.com
Celtics assistant Armond Hill makes sure to keep a low profile, but he showed another side when he learned that a reporter Tweeted a Celtics strategy he wrote on the grease board before the game. Hill was informed of the Tweet and quieted the locker room with his voice, warning reporters not to Tweet or write down any of the Celtics’ plans during their interview sessions in the locker room. As the media surrounded Ray Allen for a pregame interview, a still-angry Hill stood in front of the grease board, and later continued writing the game plan. Boston Globe
