During the Grizzlies' playoff run, tensions turned to a confrontation when Hollins exploded during a practice session upon finding Hollinger had walked onto the practice court and engaged forward Austin Daye during a shooting drill, multiple sources told Yahoo! Sports. With the team watching – and with a motive to show his players that he was completely in charge on the floor, sources said – Hollins loudly questioned Hollinger about what he was doing, and why he believed it was appropriate for a management official to intrude on what's considered sacred territory for a coach and team, sources said. Prince was indeed going to Memphis but it was Daye who would be accompanying him rather than Maggette. "When L. Frank walked out and told me to go into his office, I knew something was up because that hasn't happened in four years," Daye said, referring to Pistons coach Lawrence Frank, who summoned the fourth-year forward so president of basketball operations Joe Dumars could break the news over the phone. "I was kind of shocked. There's a negative and a positive. Negative is I'm moving away from a city that was always good to me and I've got a lot of friends (in Michigan). But there's a lot of positives. "Going to a team with a winning record, it will be a good experience." Booth Newspapers

A story written by Swedish writers while Jerebko was in London quoted the forward's father, Chris, and the Swedish national team manager, Jonte Karlsson, concerning his current nonrole on the team. Jerebko has been out of the rotation since November. The story offered the theory that the Pistons were showcasing Austin Daye and Charlie Villanueva for a possible trade, which seems unlikely. "You do not sell a player and get rid of his contract if he is sitting on the bench," Karlsson was quoted in the story. Before Tuesday's game against Orlando, Jerebko said: "I didn't read the story, so I don't know what it said. Everybody has a right to their own opinion. It's media. They probably twisted it."
