(Bobby) Jackson, an assistant coach for two seasons, is uncertain if he'll have a role in the attempt to turn the Kings back into contenders. None of the team's assistant coaches has a contract for next season, he said. Head coach Keith Smart has another year on his contract, but his fate likely won't be decided until the change in ownership is official later this month. Sacramento Bee |

Bothered by the pressure, Fredette looked uncomfortable for most of the game. But the Kings want him to work through these issues, which plagued him as a rookie. With starting point guard Isaiah Thomas not playing in the summer league, there will be plenty of chances for Fredette to work on what went wrong. "At some point, he has to figure it out," said Kings summer league co-head coach Bobby Jackson. "I want him to be a bit more aggressive on the pick-and-rolls. He's got to understand that's what guys are going to do because he can shoot the ball. He didn't shoot the ball well (Friday), but he's got to be the guy that's aggressive and gets us in our stuff. … He'll figure it out." Sacramento Bee |

Bobby Jackson told me a little while ago that he will coach the Kings squad in the Las Vegas Summer League that begins on July 12. After working in basketball operations, BJax just finished his first season as an NBA assistant. While the roster won't be determined for a while, Jimmer Fredette and Tyler Honeycutt plan to participate, and undoubtedly will be joined by the team's draft picks. "I've been getting ready," said Jackson. "I've been working on my plays, my play calls. Coach (Keith) Smart said I can run whatever offense or defense I want, and it's no secret what I want to do - get it and go. I don't want to see any pounding. You pass, cut, pick and rolls. I don't want to give them (players) too much to think about because you want them to play freely, without worrying about mistakes. Just simple basketball." Sacramento Bee |

![]() Hidden among today’s NBA implosion news was the announcement by former Sacramento Kings six man, Bobby Jackson, that he is joining Coach Paul Westphal’s staff as an assistant coach. Strangely enough, the announcement did not come through the conventional route of a press release, but by Jackson himself via twitter. Cowbellkingdom.com Cowbell Kingdom sources have confirmed the appointment of Jackson, but no word yet on who may or may not be returning from the 2010-11 Kings staff, which included Head Coach Paul Westphal, assistants Jim Eyen, Mario Elie, Truck Robinson, Otis Hughley and basketball legend Pete Carrill. As a player, Jackson was known for his desire to accept a challenge and he did so again Monday while hosting the Bobby Jackson Foundation Celebrity Golf Tournament at the plush Catta Verdera Country Club in Lincoln, Ca. The tournament was designed to provide financial support for Camp Kesem, a free overnight summer camp for children ages 6-13 and teens 14-16 of all races, religions, nationalities and financial status with a parent who had or has had cancer. "My mom passed away seven years and I didn't have anyone to lean on while she was going through it," Jackson said as he sat in a golf cart at Hole 2. "So that's something I can relate to, especially for kids. "Seeing what cancer did to my mom helps make it a passion that is related to almost everything I do. I just want to give back because I've been blessed and you know it's more difficult for kids to understand when a parent goes through something like that." Marty McNeal |
