Boris Diaw's agent Doug Neustadt tells Max Sports there were three other NBA teams trying to pry Boris away from the Spurs, but in the end, Boris decided to re-sign with the Spurs. The third year of Diaw's deal is partially guaranteed, sources said. Diaw is guaranteed $18.5 million over the first two years of the deal, sources said. Spurs general manager R.C. Buford and Diaw's agent Doug Neustadt completed the deal Sunday, sources said. Yahoo! Sports

The consensus across the league is that Diaw will be back with the Spurs, who value his versatility and playmaking. In his exit interview a few days after the NBA Finals, Diaw expressed a preference to return to play for Popovich, a coach who has come to accept his idiosyncrasies, and alongside his childhood friend, Tony Parker. Here, Diaw’s ill-fated tenure in Charlotte still looms large. In March of 2012, Diaw more or less forced his way off a bad Bobcats team — via contract buyout — amid a philosophical clash with coach Paul Silas. Diaw signed a few days later to play for the Spurs. Because of that episode, one league executive surmises, any other team that pursues Diaw this month will do so exercising utmost caution. Any big-money offer will come with a “buyer beware” attached. “People are nervous about Diaw,” the exec said. San Antonio Express-News
