September 6, 2012 Updates

Austin Toros coach Brad Jones has been mentioned several times as a favored candidate. The Toros are San Antonio’s Development League affiliate, and Jones — a nephew of former Jazz coach Jerry Sloan — has ties with Corbin. Asked about Jones being added to Utah’s staff, Lindsey declined comment. "I don’t have anything to tell you … other than we do have a concrete direction and we’re hopeful that one thing in particular will come through," said Lindsey, replying to a general question about the hire. "We think we’re close, but we’ve got to button up a lot of details." Salt Lake Tribune

The Austin Toros, NBA Development League affiliate of the San Antonio Spurs, have named Brad Jones as head coach for the upcoming D-League season. Jones had been the head coach for the Utah Flash the past three seasons but will now take over in Austin for Quin Snyder, who has been added to the Philadelphia 76ers coaching staff. "We are excited to have Brad join our organization," RC Buford, president of sports franchises for Spurs Sports and Entertainment, said in a press release announcing the hiring. "We are confident that Brad will provide outstanding leadership and instruction for the Toros players. His coaching style will provide our fans with an outstanding experience while still focusing on the Toros main mission, which is player development." FanHouse.com
