HoopsHype Chris Paul rumors

May 8, 2015 Updates

Paul was listed as questionable before the first two games of the Clippers’ series with Houston, but he’s been limited to assistant coaching duties while his team won Game 1 and struggled in the second half of its Game 2 loss. “He’s been great,” Rivers said. “That’s what Chris does. Chris is a positive guy and in a very good way, but he’s also an astute basketball guy. He clearly could be a coach when he retires; I don’t think he wants to do that, but he could be. And he has a better connection with the players on the floor. He played with them. Orange County Register

Trevor Ariza added 15 points and 13 rebounds for Houston, which made 42 of its 64 free throws. Both were franchise playoff records. Blake Griffin led Los Angeles with 34 points, but had just eight after halftime as Houston keyed on him with All-Star point guard Chris Paul out with a hamstring injury. "We got out of the rhythm, offensively, and that's where the game changed for us," Los Angeles coach Doc Rivers said. "We got stuck trying to go to Blake too much, and we forgot about the guys on the other side of the floor. That hurt us." USA Today Sports

Now, Rivers doesn’t know if Paul will be back for Game 3 on Friday in Los Angeles. Paul hasn’t done any running or jogging on court, going through a pool workout Wednesday. He has done some shooting, though, but most of the work has been with the team’s training staff. “I’m doing everything possible to try and get back on the court,” he said. Orange County Register

Doc Rivers knows Chris Paul will be back. He just doesn’t know when. The Clippers’ star point guard wasn’t able to play for the second straight game, with his injured left hamstring not healed enough to allow him to take the floor Wednesday. “It concerns me,” the Clippers coach said. “Again, we have a couple more days, and we’ll see. He’s moving better today than he was. That’s a good sign, but not good enough to play in a basketball game.” Orange County Register
