Singleton said he has spoken with Wittman and understands why he isn’t playing. “He’s basically just looking for more consistency on the court. Wants my energy to be up, every time I touch the court and just go out there and play hard. Washington Post

The Las Vegas summer league, which is less than two weeks away, is currently a high priority as the team looks to fill out its roster in time for mini-camp next week. The Wizards expect to have second-year players Jan Vesely, Chris Singleton and Shelvin Mack, and recent draft picks Beal and Satoransky. Satoransky is currently under contract in Spain and would need to receive clearance from FIBA to play for the Wizards. “We have already applied for” clearance, Grunfeld said. “Whether they grant it or not, remains to be seen. You just don’t know.” Washington Post

Do you have a good idea of who will be on the summer league roster in vegas? You can probably assume that the rookies from last year - Jan Vesely, Shelvin Mack and Chris Singleton - will play. I heard Vesely is coming from the Czech Republic next month to get ready, so he's in. The three draft picks from this year will participate. Jordan Crawford has stated that he'd be willing to play, but I'm not so sure he will. Other than that, you might see Morris Almond or Cartier Martin give it go. I wouldn't count on John Wall, Trevor Booker or Kevin Seraphin, who will be getting ready for the Olympics. Washington Post

Singleton said he planned on taking the tickets, which he purchased at various locations in the area, back for redemption to see home much money he actually won. The Wizards rookie, who will earn $1.485 million this season, wrote last week on his Twitter account that he was going to take a shot at the jackpot: “I’m about to drop 10000 on the lottery and cross my fingers #halfwaytoabillionaireifiwin” He later explained to his Twitter followers that he was making an “investment” and added, “If I get richer, I will change the world for the better.” When asked about the purchase on Monday, Singleton said he had to buy tickets at different locations because they weren’t allowed to print his requested demand at once. He added that he felt he made a wise investment, even though he didn’t win. “Either that or blow it in the club,” Singleton said. Washington Post

Chris Singleton: I know people are worried about not having a season, but I think we’ll have one. If I had to make a guess, I’d say we get into camp by December, maybe get the season going by January. I have heard some talk about the negotiations, about whether some of the stars should be speaking out more, but to me, the stars have stepped up, because they are all still here. They haven’t gone overseas. Washington Times

Chris Singleton: I know a lot of guys are talking about going overseas to play, but I’m not thinking about it. Right now, getting my degree is more important to me. But for a lot of guys, if they can find a good situation with an out clause, it could be a good option. People talk about what happens if you go over there and get hurt, but every time you step on a court, you could get hurt, so I don’t think guys are really worrying about that. Washington Times

Chris Singleton: I don’t think the Wizards have the respect of a lot of people in D.C., so we have to take our game to another level. I’m positive we can turn things around, but mentally, we have to be there. I know the gossip about what some of these guys have been doing off the court, and frankly, some people need to grow up a little and eliminate some of that. But over time, we will develop our chemistry, and we’ll make the city of D.C. proud of us. Washington Times

Wizards rookie Chris Singleton, though, is taking a bit of a different tack. He is going back to school at Florida State. He is working out. But he also is getting some entrepreneurial spirit going. He told Sporting News that he and some friends from FSU have started a new clothing line, called Doughpe Clothing (that’s pronounced, “Dope.”) It can be found at doughpeclothing.com. “You know, it is a lot of fun because we are just getting it started and getting it off the ground,” Singleton said. “It’s an urban T-shirt line, something I am just trying to make people aware of, do the marketing and see how much interest we can get going for it. We just launched it (in late July). But it is already off to a pretty good start. We have the time to do something like this right now, so why not try it?” Sporting News

Stephen Curry, Jarrett Jack, Marvin Williams, Jodie Meeks, Ekpe Udoh, Chris Singleton, Jon Leuer and many others are trading their playbooks for textbooks. Other players, such as Derrick Williams and Brandon Knight, haven't started the process but are considering re-enrolling at their respective schools. "I have to get that degree," said Udoh, who is currently chipping away at the final 14 hours of his undergraduate degree at Baylor University. HoopsWorld
