After playing the last five games without Marcus Williams — the previous three of which have been losses — the Shanxi Brave Dragons have officially signed a long-term replacement. Christian Eyenga, who was drafted in the first round by the Cleveland Cavaliers in 2009, has formally been announced as Shanxi’s newest foreign player and has already linked up with the team in Taiyuan. According to Chinese media, the league has received Eyenga’s letter of clearance and he will thus be available to play in tonight’s nationally televised game against Fujian. NiuBBall.com

The Orlando Magic recently cut former first round pick Christian Eyenga, he is guaranteed more than $1.1 million that the Magic will eat if another team does not claim him through the waiver process. Christian can play and there is a belief a few teams have interest. If another team claims Eyenga off of waivers the Magic are off the hook for his $1.1 million salary. Most teams will try to get to 14 players over the next few days, which mean a lot of fringe guys are playing for either their roster spot now, or auditioning for another team after they get cut. The NBA regular season gets under way on Tuesday the 30th. Final regular season roster must be into the league office no later than 5pm EST on Monday the 29th. HoopsWorld

The Orlando Magic waived swingman Christian Eyenga and point guard Armon Johnson this morning, team officials said. The moves, which were expected, reduced the team's roster to 18 players. All NBA teams must have no more than 15 players on their rosters by 5 p.m. Monday. The Magic originally acquired Eyenga on Aug. 10, as part of the 12-player trade that sent Dwight Howard to the Los Angeles Lakers. Eyenga arguably was Orlando’s most gifted athlete, but he had struggled to earn playing time with the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Lakers during his first two NBA seasons and his game remains unrefined. Any NBA star overcome with a sense of entitlement ought to listen to Christian's story. He lived in fear last season during his second season with the Cleveland Cavaliers, worried about the safety of his family, calling home every day. He said his mother and a sister recently relocated to London, but his father and various brothers are still in the Congo, unable to obtain visas. (Eyenga doesn't know all his siblings. Polygamy is legal in his homeland. "My dad, he has five wives," Eyenga said. "That's too many. Just one will be enough for me.") Orlando Sentinel

The Magic were key players in a blockbuster, four-team trade on Friday when they dealt Howard and reserves Chris Duhon and Earl Clark to the Los Angeles Lakers. The Magic also sent Jason Richardson to the Philadelphia 76ers and in return will receive Aaron Afflalo, Al Harrington, Nikola Vucevic, Josh McRoberts, Christian Eyenga and rookie Moe Harkless, three first-round picks and two second-round selections. The Magic will receive protected first-round picks from Denver (or New York) in 2014, Philadelphia in ‘15 and Los Angeles in ‘17. NBA.com

Andrew Bynum did not offer assurances to Sixers he will sign an extension, source said. He wouldn't have done that anywhere. Still, Sixers feel as if he's worth the risk, especially since they aren't exactly surrendering the future of the franchise (Andre Iguodala to Denver, Moe Harkless, Nikola Vucevic and first-rounder to Magic) to obtain him.
