N.C. State's C.J. Leslie didn't display a consistent spirit, which is why NBA types question whether he can be a consistent performer at the next level. He will also likely have to play both forward spots depending on matchups. "He's definitely more of a four," one Southeast Division exec said. "He wanted to be a three. He impacted the game with his vertical lift. He will chase down balls. But he's more athlete than basketball player." NBA.com |

There was more than a hint of drama as N.C. State’s C.J. Leslie stood silently in front of television cameras and reporters for nearly 30 seconds. The subject of NBA draft speculation wore a bemused smile as lights were clicked on and microphones were clipped to his gray Nike T-shirt. Of course that drama didn’t end once he started talking. At Monday night’s N.C. State basketball banquet, the sophomore forward said he was still gathering information and had not yet reached a decision on whether or not he would return next season. He said he planned on making a decision later this week. “I’m letting it go wherever it goes,” Leslie said. “I’m not stressing about it. Whatever I decide to do is going to be whatever I decide to do. I’m letting it play it out and just go from there.” FayObserver.com |

In C.J. Leslie’s case, that means getting information from the NBA’s advisory committee, a group of league executives to provide potential early entry candidates with a sense of their draft status. Tuesday was the deadline to file that non-binding request, which Leslie did, and the NBA is required to provide a response by Friday. Once that information is in hand, Lisa Leslie said, the family will meet with N.C. State coach Mark Gottfried and make a decision. Raleigh News & Observer |
