As for next season, when the Cavs hold the option, all indications are that he will return. And if he doesn’t, he has at least positioned himself more favorably with a productive season, compared to his below-average performance last season. “If they decide that I’m not part of what they want to do here, I think I’ll be fine come summertime given the way I played this year,” Miles said. “Hopefully I’m still here with these knuckleheads.” Akron Beacon Journal

“It was different,” Miles said of free agency in an exclusive interview with HOOPSWORLD. “Seven years in the same place I pretty much knew where I was going to be every summer coming out. This was the first summer I wasn’t restricted so I kind of had more power as far as going into the decision where I was going to be at. With Cleveland it was just about making the right basketball decision for myself. I felt it wasn’t about money; it wasn’t about anything but basketball. I felt like being able to grow more as a player and being able to find a place where they’re building a young core, to step in, help, and grow myself was a complete deal.” HoopsWorld

“[Coach Scott is going to help me] a lot,” Miles said. “With the Coach Corbin thing the way it happened, though, I felt like the things I said were taken (out of context), like everything I said wasn’t said. I just felt like they asked me questions and I answered them truthfully with what I thought. I felt like where you have a situation where everyone is young from the head coach all the way down to the players at the end of the bench, there’s going to be times where people are lost and not know what’s going on. They asked me what I felt like could have been different and that’s what I said. HoopsWorld

Cavaliers general manager Chris Grant had almost convinced himself free agent C.J. Miles would be signing elsewhere. After all, he was being pursued by the Lakers, the Rockets and a few other teams. "I didn't think he was a candidate for us," Grant said Thursday at the Cavaliers luncheon at Executive Caterers at Landerhaven in Lyndhurst. "I thought he would go to a different place. He kept coming back to us. He said, ‘I want to be here.' It's a place he can jump-start his career." News-Herald

The Cavaliers signed swingman C.J. Miles to a two-year contract on Wednesday. He arrived in Cleveland earlier in the day and took his physical. Attempts to reach Miles were unsuccessful. He announced the reported $4 million deal on Twitter. "Papers signed," he tweeted. "It's a done deal." News-Herald

The deal doesn't preclude the Cavs from trying to re-sign swingman Alonzo Gee. The restricted free agent has yet to find a deal this summer. If the Cavs can't sign Gee to a multiyear deal, he could sign his $2.7 million qualifying offer and become an unrestricted free agent next summer. News-Herald

If Alonzo Gee is re-signed, he'll probably start at small forward. First-round pick Dion Waiters will be given every opportunity to start at 2. Miles could get a lot of minutes as the backup at 2 and 3, maybe as much as 25 minutes. Sulia
