Waiters reportedly clashed with Irving and wasn't happy about primarily not starting. He averaged career-lows of 10.5 points, 2.2 assists, 25.6 percent 3-point shooting and 23.8 minutes for Cleveland while coming off the bench in 30 of 33 games this season. Waiters also said he was "held back" from showing his game. "I knew something was going to happen with everything that was going on with the way we were playing," Waiters said. "I just knew. I just sensed it." Yahoo! Sports

"We never really played together," Waiters said. "Of course, I played with 'Ky,' but we never played with 'Kev' or LeBron and those types of guys who dominated on the opposing team. For them to come to Cleveland, we all had to change our games for the betterment of the team. "For instance, my scoring went down [along with] 'Ky.' We're used to having the ball, and with LeBron he needs the ball to facilitate, make plays and things like that. It was a chemistry thing that was still building." Yahoo! Sports

The Cleveland Cavaliers have acquired center Timofey Mozgov from the Denver Nuggets. The Cavs, who have been in discussions with the Nuggets for Mozgov for months, are paying a steep price by sending two protected first-round picks to get the deal done. The Cavs will send a future pick they own from the Memphis Grizzlies from a 2013 trade and a first-rounder they acquired from the Oklahoma City Thunder earlier this week in a deal involving Dion Waiters. In addition to Mozgov, the Cavs also get a 2015 second-round pick in return. "It was a deal that we worked on for quite some time," Cavaliers GM David Griffin said. "We're very excited about this. It fits our needs." ESPN.com

Smith admitted when he was traded Monday along with Iman Shumpert to the Cavaliers he was upset, mainly because of his longtime friendship with Carmelo Anthony. “I was upset that I don’t get to play with my best friend who I’ve played with for the last nine or 10 years,’’ he said. “We’ve been together so long and we complemented each other so well from the inside out game. “Off the court too, we hung at each other’s houses. “Last year we had more of an effort thing,’’ he said of the Knicks. “Maybe we were locked into what we were supposed to be. This year we were trying to do the right thing, there were just too many things going around.’’ New York Post

The Cleveland Cavaliers have acquired center Timofey Mozgov and a 2015 second round pick from the Denver Nuggets in exchange for two protected 2015 first round picks (via Oklahoma City and Memphis), Cavaliers General Manager David Griffin announced tonight. Cleveland conveyed to Denver its right to Oklahoma City’s protected first round draft pick and its right to Memphis’ protected first round draft pick. "I was excited (when he heard of the trade)," Waiters said. "I get to come to an organization that has been to the Finals, with young talented guys. And there are big expectations here also. I would love to be a part of something like that. This is a business, at the end of the day…(The Cavaliers) wanted to go in a different direction. I'm just happy they sent me here, to another great organization where I get a chance to play with another great player as far as Russ, Kev, and the other guys. I think I'm in a win-win situation. I take it as a positive thing." USA Today Sports
