Charlotte Hornets forward Cody Zeller underwent successful surgery today to repair a tendon in his right shoulder, as well as remove a bone spur and scar tissue. The procedure was completed by Hornets Team Physician Dr. Marcus Cook at Novant Orthopedic Hospital in Charlotte. Zeller's recovery time is expected to be approximately three months. NBA.com

Power forward Cody Zeller missed 19 of the Hornets’ last 20 games with a sore right shoulder. Zeller revealed Thursday he’s been diagnosed with a partially torn rotator cuff and might need arthroscopic surgery. Zeller said the injury would be re-evaluated in about a week to determine whether a procedure is required. "It sounds like a very minor procedure," Zeller said, adding he also has a bone spur and an inflamed bursa sac. Charlotte Observer

In a recent commercial to encourage Bobcats fans to donate packs of socks to needy families, Cody Zeller and Josh McRoberts put on a wonderful mini-skit using some sock puppets. The video, while pretty amusing, is definitely for a good cause and comes with an incentive: Fans who donate to the sock drive get a free ticket to the Bobcats game against the Raptors on January 20. “I feel fortunate for how I was brought up and people don’t realize socks are so important especially as the weather is getting colder here,” Zeller said in a video posted on the Bobcats’ website.
