You began the season with the Timberwolves, and at the time there were reports that said you had requested to go to a contender, and that Minnesota gave you permission to speak with other teams. Can you kind of walk me through how that all went down? Corey Brewer: “Minnesota’s a good organization, I was happy there. It wasn’t like I wanted to leave there, but you know, coach Saunders — we had a good relationship. He knew and I knew that they were going young, and it really wasn’t going to be a season for us to try to make the playoffs. For me, I’ve been in the league for eight years, and it’s all about playing in the playoffs. That’s what it’s about; you want to win a championship. He helped me out. We looked at the trade options, he gave me permission to talk to teams, and it worked out perfectly.” NBCSports.com

Love is an admitted introvert who enjoys sitting home and watching movies. Timberwolves center Nikola Pekovic, who was Love’s closest friend in Minnesota, told me last week he had to struggle sometimes just to get Love to leave his apartment. Love wasn’t overly close with a lot of his teammates in Minnesota. The list consisted of Pekovic and Corey Brewer. That was about it. Akron Beacon Journal

Mo Williams scored an NBA season best 52 points tonight in a Timberwolves win over the Pacers Tuesday night. In turn he set the franchise single-game record, breaking Corey Brewer’s mark of 51 set last season. Call it a guess, but it’s doubtful too many players establish a new career-high for points in their 13th season in the league. Of course it helps when shots like the one posted above are dropping for you. Williams finished with six 3-pointers during the 110-101 victory. The Big Lead

“One of the underrated pickups of the year I think will end up being their deal where they brought in Corey Brewer and Alexey Shved,” Dave Joerger said. “That’s right in their wheelhouse. Corey is a guy from right down the road (Portland, Tenn.) that I love a lot. I think he is going to help them, unfortunately. Alexey Shved is a good playmaker and a perfect fit for that system. I think that is a move that didn’t draw the attention a Josh Smith will and Rajon Rondo and guys like that. Everybody’s trying to load up.” Houston Chronicle

The Cavs did take part in talks with the Minnesota Timberwolves about swingman Corey Brewer (since traded to the Houston Rockets). But league sources said those talks never reached the serious stage -- as the Wolves were seeking the Cavs' trade exception and draft picks. The Cavs likely would've needed to send back a contract as well. FoxSports.com

Cavs General Manager David Griffin did consider trading for Corey Brewer, but decided that he wanted to hang on to his $5.3 million trade exception. Minnesota traded Brewer to Houston on Friday for Troy Daniels and two second-round picks. It's mostly a salary dump, as Brewer has the right to become a free agent after the season. Houston used its trade exception to take on Brewer's $4.7 million contract. Cleveland Plain Dealer
