The Brooklyn Nets have signed guard Markel Brown and forward Cory Jefferson to multi-year contracts, General Manager Billy King announced today. Per team policy, terms of the agreements were not disclosed. Brown, the 44th overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft, was acquired from the Minnesota Timberwolves on draft night in exchange for cash considerations. He recently completed his senior season at Oklahoma State, averaging 17.2 points, 5.3 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 35.3 minutes per game and earning All-Big 12 Second Team honors for the second consecutive season. During his junior season, Brown averaged 15.3 points, 4.4 rebounds and 2.4 assists in 34.1 minutes per game. NBA.com

It sounds like the old post-draft line, "we were stunned to see he was still available," but multiple sources tell NetsDaily that Markel Brown, taken by Brooklyn at No. 44 with the Minnesota pick, was No. 22 on the Nets internal mock draft. Moreover, say the same sources, the Nets mock had Xavier Thames going at the first pick in the second round, at No. 31, and Cory Jefferson, five picks later at No. 36. They, of course, were the final picks in the second round. NetsDaily

The San Antonio Spurs today announced that they have selected Kyle Anderson with the 30th overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. Additionally, the Spurs acquired Nemanja Dangubic from the Philadelphia 76ers in exchange for the 58th and 60th overall picks in this year’s draft. NBA.com

The Sixers weren’t done wheeling and dealing after the 2014 NBA Draft had closed Thursday night. The team acquired the rights to 58th overall pick Jordan McRae and the 60th overall pick, Cory Jefferson from the San Antonio Spurs. The Sixers then traded the rights to Jefferson to the Brooklyn Nets. In exchange for the Spurs’ picks, the Sixers sent the 54th overall pick to the reigning NBA champions, which was Serbian forward Nemanja Dangubic. Philadelphia Inquirer

Baylor forward Cory Jefferson has announced that he will return to the Bears’ men’s basketball program for his senior season. Jefferson, a fourth-year junior who is on track to receive his Baylor degree in August, will complete his collegiate eligibility instead of entering the 2013 NBA Draft. San Antonio Express-News
