And unfortunately for Butler, he can't sway Spoelstra with his performance. At this point in Butler's rehabilitation, he still isn't able to run, let alone execute the Heat's system alongside the Big 3. ``It's stressful watching guys that I grew up watching play or played with and not be able to play with them,'' Butler said. ``I can't go out there and prove myself. All I can do is go out there, learn the plays and enjoy the weight-room things.'' Miami Herald

From the start, I have viewed the Heat’s payment to Beverley as a thank you for agreeing to spend last season in Europe when the Heat was into the luxury tax (and therefore would have had to take a one-season hit for Beverley with the money it now will pay him over two seasons). With Butler, the Heat seems to be going to great lengths with a player who still has a long way to go in his rehab. Butler could be something special. Based on summer league, even in such a small sample, I’m not sure the same can be said for Beverley. South Florida Sun-Sentinel

The story spread virally on the internet and it prompted Tauntr.com to turn the tweeted story into a short video. The video is even more disturbing than the original story. The Rookie Wall

There are times in this business when you think you’ve seen it all. Over 23 years of covering the Heat, there are times I certainly have thought that. And then there was Wednesday, when Heat rookie forward Da’Sean Butler tweeted a children’s short story. Yes, tweeted. In 28 tweets of 140 or fewer characters, he put together his compilation. Because this is not a literary review, I will leave such judgments to others. But at least now I know that I hadn’t see it all. South Florida Sun-Sentinel

Former West Virginia star Da'Sean Butler has signed with the Miami Heat, becoming the team's 18th player under contract going into training camp. Butler was the 42nd pick in this year's draft. He was projected as a potential lottery choice before he tore a ligament in his left knee during the Mountaineers' Final Four loss to eventual NCAA champion Duke . USA Today
