One source said the chances of Gadzuric reaching a buyout agreement were "less than 50 percent," and a second source said the Nets wanted to have the matter resolved before they boarded their flight to London, where they will play the Toronto Raptors on Friday and Saturday. ESPN.com

The basketball operations staff is keeping a close eye on the waiver wire and seeing which players are bought out by March 1 (the deadline for players to be free from their old clubs so they can be eligible for the playoffs with a new team). According to sources, the Celtics are hoping the talk of Troy Murphy being available comes true. They are said to have interest also in Dan Gadzuric, Sasha Pavlovic and Jason Kapono. The Golden State Warriors have acquired forward Troy Murphy from the New Jersey Nets, along with the Nets’ 2012 second round draft pick, in exchange for forward Brandan Wright and center Dan Gadzuric, the team announced today. Murphy, 30, has appeared in 18 games this season for the Nets, averaging 3.6 points and 4.2 rebounds in 16.0 minutes per contest. Originally drafted by Golden State with the 14th selection in the 2001 NBA Draft, Murphy has appeared in 639 regular-season games over 10 seasons with Golden State, Indiana and New Jersey, averaging 11.8 points, 8.5 rebounds and 1.6 assists in 29.0 minutes per contest. Alex Kennedy: The New Jersey Nets will likely buyout Dan Gadzuric, source tells HOOPSWORLD. He's another cheap option for teams that need frontcourt help. Twitter

In a swift and astonishing comeback from their failed pursuit of Carmelo Anthony, New Jersey also will get Dan Gadzuric and Brandan Wright from Golden State, which will buy out Murphy, sources said. Murphy is considering signing with Boston, Miami or Orlando once his buyout is complete. CBSSports.com

After nearly two months of trying to find a trade for him, the New Jersey Nets are near an agreement to send Troy Murphy to the Golden State Warriors for Brandan Wright and Dan Gadzuric, league sources told Yahoo! Sports. The trade is expected to be completed on Wednesday, but could still become larger with the inclusion of Nets point guard Devin Harris into a three-team package – most likely with Portland or Dallas, sources said. Yahoo! Sports

The Warriors, who would also receive a 2012 second-round pick from the Nets, will buy out the remainder of the $12 million owed Murphy in the final year of his contract and allow him to become a free agent. Yahoo! Sports

Troy Murphy could go to Golden State for two nondescript big men: Brandan Wright and Dan Gadzuric. There’s also a Portland deal that has Murphy and Harris (with nearly $21 million in salary) going to the Blazers for Miller and Joel Przybilla (carrying under $15 million in salary). Either a third team or another player would be needed to make that trade work. “I’ve heard Portland and I’ve heard Golden State but I really don’t know,” Murphy said Tuesday. “But at least it will be resolved within 48 hours.” New York Post

Suspect as a rebounder because of his build and still trying to develop more variety offensively to complement his undeniable shot-blocking ability, Wright will be a restricted free agent at season's end if he’s not moved by the Warriors first. There aren't any strong signals that anything’s imminent, but this much we know: The 23-year-old belongs with Dan Gadzuric and Vladimir Radmanovic on list of Golden State "gettables." ESPN.com

The deal with Salmons is "real close," a league source said Thursday, but not completely finished. Earlier in the day, Milwaukee agreed to terms with veteran power forward Drew Gooden on a five-year, $32 million deal, continuing an active offseason that saw the Bucks acquire veteran forward Corey Maggette from Golden State last month for center Dan Gadzuric and guard Charlie Bell. The Bucks know that the 28-year-old Gooden has bounced around from team to team throughout his career, but feel he can settle in at power forward next to center Andrew Bogut instead of having to play in the middle as he did in Dallas and in other stops in his career. It didn't escape Jennings' notice that the Bucks also obtained veteran small forward Corey Maggette in a trade with Golden State, with center Dan Gadzuric and guard Charlie Bell going to the Warriors. "He's a guy who can get to the line," Jennings said of the 30-year-old Maggette, who will be entering his 12th pro season. "That's what we missed last year. He can get you 20 or more (points per game), so I'm excited." Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel
