“It’s tough for European players to go to the NBA, because you have to earn your respect,” he said. “They don’t respect you at the beginning. They say, ‘Who is this guy? He’s coming here to get our jobs.’ So you’ve got to earn the respect. From the first practice, they’re going to hit you, and do everything to make you sit on the bench (so they can) play. That’s normal. NBCSports.com

Danilo Gallinari: "“In my case, it was very funny because when I was in Europe, I was playing in a system where you do this, (then) you do this, and (then) you do your thing. You go in and out of the things that you do better. When I got to the states I was playing for Mike D’Antoni, and in our offensive system, every ball you catch, you’ve got to either shoot it, or do something. You’ve got to make things happen". Said Gallinari, in the print version of Italy-based Gazzetta dello Sport: “[The referees] would certainly have called that type of pick on our big guys. It was a crystal clear foul but, as everybody knows, they call fewer fouls for you when you play against the Lakers.” Gallinari went on to address TNT commentator Steve Kerr, who argued on-air that the play was a Euro-style flop, with “I guess Kerr hasn’t played basketball for too long.” Ball In Europe

You can call him soft, you can call him invisible, you can call him a Houston Rocket ... but as long as he's still dressed in a Lakers uniform, he will still do anything it takes for the Lakers to win. He's not doing cartwheels about his situation, but he's not giving up on it. He not thrilled, but he's not Lamar Odom. "I get as much satisfaction out of setting the pick and making the pass to the man hitting the winning shot as I would if I made that shot myself," said Gasol afterward. "I'm OK with my changed role here, less touches, more sacrifices, so bet it." Los Angeles Times

In a game with 18 lead changes and momentum consistently walking a tightrope, one big hit could change everything, and it was Gasol who delivered the blow. Just ask Gallinari. "It was a tough pick, it was just a tough, tough pick," said Gallinari. "You've got to expect that in the playoffs. ... I've got to be more ready in those situations to get those hits and still be able to play defense." Despite the crowd's pleadings, Gasol said he thought it was a legal hit, replays confirmed it, and Gallinari didn't contest it. "I was a good pick, right?" Gasol said. "I was surprised he went down like that." Los Angeles Times

Interviewed by Be Bop a Basket, Danilo Gallinari confirmed that he will be wearing Italian National Team jersey next summer. The National Team will play the Eurobasket Qualification Round. "We have started a new project last summer. We didn't have good results but when you begin something new it is very hard to win immediately. This summer we have to reach the qualification to Eurobasket 2013. And we have to play a good basketball. I am in. Injuries? I had a lot during the season, but now I am ok" said Il Gallo. Danilo Gallinari stayed after practice for more than an hour today getting his work in, going through shooting, ball-handling and defensive practice. He is closing in on a return. Still, his return will not be tomorrow against the Suns or at any point in the remainder of this week. The Nuggets forward, however, is targeting a return to action on Monday against Golden State. “I feel definitely better,” Gallinari said. “I think we’re getting closer to playing a game. I don’t know when, probably we were thinking about Golden State. Thinking about Monday. So we’ll see.” Denver Post

Danilo Gallinari said to Gazzetta.it that in 10 days he will be back to action. He is out with a broken thumb. "I think that in 10 days I will be back. Now I am working using just my right hand. I think I will return to action before the end of the regular season. When we will be back to Denver after this road trip I plan to play. About my season, I am happy, it is a positive one but we have to reach the playoffs" said Danilo Gallinari. Sportando

Danilo Gallinari left Monday’s game after fracturing his left (non-shooting) thumb on a backboard, while trying to block a shot. Asked how long he could be out, Gallo said, “I don’t know how long it’s going to be. It’s not going to be short. It’s a fracture. The doctor told me the fracture takes four weeks to heal. Hopefully I can put something on and play sooner than that.” He injured the thumb in the third quarter of Denver’s blowout loss to Dallas. “I tried to play through but it was getting worse second-by-second,” he said. “I didn’t know it was broken, but it hurt a lot. It’s unbelievable, but got to keep going, keep thinking positive and make this push for the playoffs.” Denver Post
