Though the text was difficult to translate, Green did indicate that he's taking his days "match by match" and indicated "At this moment, I'm still here," referring to playing in Europe. I guess (it) will happen soon. My agent did not mention it (returning to the Spurs) before we talked. But I repeat, my thoughts are currently aimed at Olympia. I want to help the team to the best of my ability. ProjectSpurs.com |

Jeff McDonald: Spurs swingman Danny Green emails from Slovenia, expounding (sort of) on earlier lockout tweets .... The upshot from Green: "Either way we are going to lose in this deal. I just think we shouldn't lose/give too much." Twitter |

Though he appreciates the opportunity to play anywhere while the NBA is shuttered, it was never his dream to play in Slovenia, or anywhere else. In this, he is not alone. Green says his decision to play abroad was not made lightly. He likely would not be going if not for an out clause in his Slovenian contract that will allow him to return to the Spurs once the NBA’s labor impasse is resolved. “I didn’t want to jeopardize what I had here,” Green said. “This is where I want to be. At the same time, I need to play somewhere.” San Antonio Express-News Green, 24, appeared in eight games over two stints with the Spurs last season, and also made four postseason appearances. Already signed for the 2011-12 season, if it happens, Green stands a better-than-decent chance of making the Spurs out of training camp, if there is one. In a way, Green considers his out clause as a bet that cooler heads will eventually prevail in the NBA’s collective bargaining standoff. “I’m optimistic we’ll at least have half a season,” Green said. Former Austin Toros G/F Danny Green announced via Twitter late Friday evening that he would indeed be moving on to play in Slovenia during the current NBA Lockout. Green, who signed a non-guaranteed multi-year contract with the Toros' NBA affiliate San Antonio Spurs last season, stated in a series of tweets that he hopes to be back when the lockout ends. However he also indicated that he would be back if the organization (Spurs) wants him back. Examiner |

Several of the younger Spurs have met and plan to start organized workouts soon. Spurs guard Danny Green told Jeff Garcia of Project Spurs.com that he has been in contact with several of his teammates about group work during the lockout. Several of them recently returned to San Antonio to map plans during the workout. “I saw them actually about a week or two ago,” Green told Garcia. ” We all went back. We talked about dates we want to go back and work out with each other.” San Antonio Express-News What of the reports you are off to Greece and Olympiakos. Is there any truth to that? Danny Green: There was a rumor. We were looking at different stuff. We don't know what's going to happen. I mean obviously I want to play. I don't just want to sit at home. I want to stay in shape, and find somewhere else to play and to make money at the same time. But I can't do that without an out clause and Olympiakos, I don't think, gives anybody a contract without an out clause. ProjectSpurs.com So you have not signed with team? Danny Green: I have not signed with anybody yet. Right now I'm just focusing on staying in shape and hopefully getting this lockout over. And if not, we'll look at other options and hopefully I can find a place where I can go to and then when this lockout is over, come back. ProjectSpurs.com |
